How I Made $3990.64 On Amazon KDP in May

I’m excited to share my income report for May 2023 with you all. I’ll be doing a deep dive into this business and sharing some valuable tips that could help you thrive in your KDP journey.
For May 2023, my book royalties amounted to $3990.64 — my highest monthly earnings so far. Do you want to know the best part about it? I didn’t put in extra work. I only created two coloring books.

Yet, books from the previous month began to gain traction, and I’m reaping the benefits. Comparing this to May 2022, where I grossed only $839.51, I’ve seen an astounding 375% increase year over year.

This growth shows why I always emphasise the importance of not comparing your current results with anyone else. Stay focused on crafting quality books and refining your skills. Over time, the results will surely come. There’s no need to rush this process.
In terms of daily earnings, May 3rd was the peak with $263.10, marking it as my highest earning day on Amazon KDP. My lowest was $31.88 on Sunday, May 14th. Although there were some noticeable high’s and low’s in daily earnings, my focus remains on creating evergreen books for steady year-round sales.
Throughout the month, I sold 1,691 books, predominantly in the UK market, grossing over $3336.95. The amazon.com market followed with $586.38 and Canada trailed behind with $23.45. My books also sold in smaller markets, including France, Poland, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.
My top five best-selling books for the month varied, with an activity book taking the lead, grossing $1,750. Another activity book followed, raking in $582; my best-selling logbook made $489.62. A quiz book earned $340, and an AI coloring book made $113.78.
ADS

Advertising also played a role in my success this month. In the UK, I spent £453.05, generating 419 orders with a very low ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sale) of 15.15%. Meanwhile, in the US market, I spent $57.83, resulting in 22 orders. However, the ACoS was high at 35.31%, indicating room for improvement. In Canada, I spent a mere $1.93, leading to one order at an ACoS of 10.73%.

After deducting my expenses totaling $854.03 which include Amazon ads (I have to add 20% VAT as I’m based within the UK and KDP subscriptions (Canva, Creative Fabrica, Book Bolt, Midjourney, and ChatGPT Plus), my net income for May was $3136.61.
These results reinforce my belief that Amazon KDP is one of the best ways to earn money online by leveraging Amazon’s vast customer base.
