How I Made $3125.14 on Amazon KDP in April 2023
A Deep Dive Into My KDP Business
April 2023 has been a milestone month for my Amazon KDP business, with earnings of $3125.14 — my highest ever.
I’ll share my tips and strategies that helped me achieve this.
Just a year ago in April 2022, I had grossed $636.48. Fast forward to today, and my earnings have increased by a whopping 391%.
The key to this success has been focusing on my own growth, learning from others, and taking consistent small actions to grow my business.
During April 2023, the best day for earnings was the 25th, when I made $165.53, while the lowest was the 9th, with just $31.13. The month saw several inconsistent days, but I had multiple days earning over $100 and a few days with over $150.
My book orders for the month totalled 1,340. The UK marketplace performed best, generating $2477.55, followed by Amazon.com with $540.58, and Canada with $50.27. Smaller marketplaces, such as France, Italy, Spain, Australia, and Germany, contributed as well.
The top five selling books in April were:
- An activity book — $1248.60
- Another activity book — $506.55
- A logbook (a consistent seller that sells all year round)
- A quiz book (performing well in the US market)
- A coloring book (one of my AI activity books)
To boost book sales, I run ads on my books.
In the UK marketplace, I spent £413, with an ACoS of 19.14%, generating over $2000 in sales. In the US market, I spent $70.77, with an ACoS of 25.68%, resulting in $275.61 in sales. In the Canadian market, I spent $2.95, with an ACoS of 16.41%, yielding $17.98 in sales.
After accounting for expenses like Amazon ads (I’m based in the UK so I have to pay an extra 20% VAT on ads, subscriptions which include KDP Champ, Canva, Midjourney, ChatGPT Plus and Book Bolt.
My net profit for April 2023 was $2310.14.
