How I Conquered the World by Blogging

Or How Blogging Made Me Become the Person I Am Today

Please, don’t take the title literally.

I have been blogging for 10 yeast now. I was in high school when I wrote my first article on a .wordpress.com subdomain.

I wrote a lot of articles just for the lols, but I had a period of 5 years when I wrote for a living. I had been writing 8-to–12 tech articles a day and earning money from Google Adsense.

Blogging helped me both directly and indirectly. Starting a blog was one of the best decisions I had ever made.

It allowed Me to Start From Scratch

Blogging allowed me to perform a hard reset. I think techies love this expression, hard reset.

I had a hard time when I moved from my hometown to a different city to start University. A few years later I had figured out that I had chosen a University I was not made for but kept doing it anyway.

I found it very difficult even to live in a big city. My hometown was a small and boring town. But I had to adapt.

Starting the Linux blog allowed me to reinvent myself. I was writing from the conform of my couch and making plans to conquer my niche. Having success with the blog made me feel more confident. I did not think that I was a useless person anymore. Six months later, I started earning more than my colleagues from the University did and this made me very proud of myself.

It Made Me Understand That the More I Work, the More I Win

Writing tech articles proved to me that the incomes were directly proportional to the number of articles. The more I wrote, the more I won.

At first, it took me 8 hours to write 8-to-10 articles a day, but I had learned how to do this faster. A few months after I had started, I needed only 4 hours to write my daily article volume and that was a big plus. I was working less and winning more.

Writing is more about work and mindset and less about writing and creativity. With proper micro-habits, everyone can write 8-to-10 pieces of 500 words each.

It Taught Me to Pay Attention to Details and I Gained an Analytical Thinking

It taught me that the devil is hiding in the details. At first, my strategy was to write long and elaborate articles, but this did not work.

My new strategy was to write shorter articles that can be easily understood by everybody, not just the techies. To figure this out, I had studied the Google Analytics data and discovered that popular topics were more appreciated than technical and elaborate information.

I had learned the trends and developed a method that helped me document everything very quickly. My target was to publish the information faster than everybody else.

It Taught Me How to Write Texts With a Precise Scope

I always know what I want to achieve before I start writing. I started to very good at writing clickable texts. I am good at writing straight forward mails and I know how to format an article for it to be scanned easily.

I consider that writing is an extension of speaking and a written way to express feelings. And communication is all about feeling and expressing.

It allowed Me to Meet Awesome People

By writing, I got the chance to meet and interact with a lot of awesome people.

People with hobbies are very interesting. While we come from different places and have different life experiences, we also have a lot of things in common. Being part of a community is awesome and gives you the chance of becoming a better self.

Having the occasion to interact with persons who are alike me made me better at what I do. This made me evolve and develop new sets of skills.

It Taught Me How to Fight for an Idea and Never Give up Until I Succeed

I have always been ambitious, but this was never enough. I want to do a lot of things, but I am lazy and procrastinate. Blogging made me want to fight and struggle for what I wanted to achieve and kept me motivated.

I got out of my comfort zone and I worked a lot. This made others envy me and send aggressive emails, but I was totally fine with it.

I was studying what others were doing and outworked them a lot. I wrote better and published faster than a lot of them and this made me have a big list of haters.

I Learned That Making Mistakes Is Part of the Process

I don’t care if I do some things wrong, I focus only on the positive aspects. I prefer to always find solutions and to struggle to evolve as much as I can.

Mistakes or difficult situations are ways to develop new skills and perfect opportunities that can make us better if we are set up with the proper mindset.

It Forced Me to Learn New Things Constantly

The blog made me feel the need to constantly learning new things. This made me a better person and a better blogger.

I wanted to perform better and better, searched for different angles, and tested different things that could boost my stats and earnings.

It’s very important to always stay motivated and to fight for the things you want. Self-improvement is a way of life, a road that will not end, but I am very okay with that.

It Forced Me to Experiment With New Things

To have topics to write about, I had to experiment and test a lot of new things. This way, I have learned a lot about technologies and different other topics from my area of interest.

The need to staying a step further others made me better and wiser in many many aspects.

I Learned to Embrace Feedback

If there’s one thing I like about blogging, it’s that I get feedback often and a lot. This way I can easily figure out what things I’m doing right and what’s wrong. And that helps me be better and makes the blog evolve.

Bottom line

Blogging provided me both a hobby that made me constantly evolve and a means to earn money independently.

If you like writing, you should start a blog immediately.
