How hard can you take criticism ?#8
On the value of constructive criticism

Good morning, everyone!
Welcome to a new week and a new list of great advice to improve your personal and professional lives.
Accept Constructive Feedback
I follow Tim Denning a lot and read most of his articles.
One time, he was selling slots for his writing masterclass via email. He wanted honest feedback on why most people were not buying his course.
At the end of the email, he said:
Is there a big reason you aren’t joining? Hit reply and tell me the blunt truth. I can take it.
I love that he has learned the benefits of constructive criticism. Tim uses it to move him forward rather than feel bad about it.
This is the uniqueness of our community.
We accept and allow constructive criticism.
In my early days of learning networking on Medium through reading groups such as Be Open, I hardly received any constructive feedback.
Sharing my articles in Facebook Medium groups also led to a similar predicament.
Comments such as “great read” or “the article is well written” do little to help you improve.
In list #7, I received constructive feedback from Nicola, J.K.Hammond, and Cyn BehindMind.
I have been thinking about the feedback ever since, and I am more thoughtful when I write my articles as this group does offer constructive criticism.
You will also be grateful for such feedback each time you receive it. So, don’t be discouraged when you do receive it. Be positive and strive to improve. Also, offer it in kindness
On Growth of the Community
Last week in #7, we had quite a list of new members.
We were 21 when I checked.
However, unfortunately, we did have many non-genuine members.
Since they did not adhere to our only rule about honest engagement, they have been removed.
I also have a question about whether we should be more closely knit? Will a small community be better in the long-term? What do you think? Would a limit of 20 members be okay? Or we can keep growing?
If agreed on 20 members, we will cap the group once this is reached.
My goal is to introduce random reads and share at least 2 lists every week that have random readers. That way, we can have more reads for your articles from different members.
However, since we are far from achieving this, we are only listing our articles once per week. This will help you get more time to network with others on Medium using different strategies and in other reading groups.
