I got an email from Medium in April telling me that I had made the list, and I quickly wrote an article about it. In re-reading it now, it’s hard to believe that was just 8 short months ago. How Does It Feel To Be THE Top Writer In A Topic?

Yes, I am the top writer in Travel!

I’ve hummed and hawed about whether I should write this post, but I have decided to finally just do it.

If I don’t toot my own horn, who will?

Judgment is damned! Isn’t that what good writing is all about anyway?

About a month ago, one of my fellow Globetrotters editors, Adrienne Beaumont, messaged me to say that I was the top writer in Travel.

My immediate response was, “What? Where?”.

I’m not sure if she really understood that I had no idea what she was talking about, but she left me some convoluted answers about how I was the top writer in her books.

‘Ah, I see,’ I thought and dismissed it.

I had honestly completely forgotten about it when a few days ago, she wrote me again. It was in our editor feed in messenger and this time other editors chimed in congratulating me.

I replied with my confusion.

It was then that she finally understood that I didn’t know where to look to see this, and she guided me along to see it for myself.

I went to the search bar at the top of my page and typed in ‘Travel’. I then clicked the option ‘topics’ underneath the heading ‘results for travel.’ (You can go ahead and try it if you want.)

Further clicking on travel again brought me to the page that highlights every article that has been tagged with ‘travel’ plus, it lists the ‘top writers’ in the right-hand column.

And lo and behold, there it was! My NAME at the TOP of the list!

Of course, a feeling of pride washed over me, followed closely by a feeling of disbelief.

How was this possible?

There are so many writers on this platform that I truly admire, and it is an honor to simply be listed WITH them as the top writers in travel throughout all of Medium.

Of course, I have no idea how Medium decides these things. It could quite possibly be that I publish the most articles with the tag ‘travel.’ It could also be that I just had an immensely successful travel article go viral in December that garnered over 19K views.
