How Do You Learn? Part II — Grace Linton
People who have been through hell and survived to change their lives in a positive way have a lot to teach others about life!
Silence steps in, inciting minds, hearts, souls, and brains to think deeper.
Grace broke it, “Are you married with children Sir?”
“He doesn’t even have a chick or a child,” a voice in the middle aisle shouts before he could answer.
“And he doesn’t attempt to assist his family with his niece and nephews either,” another voice said.
“What about childhood friends?” Grace quests.
“He is the only child he knows,” another voice in the left aisle alerts.
“And that is if he knows himself,” someone else said.
“He doesn’t know himself,” a voice in the right aisle shares. “If he did, he would have had more understanding of life and humanity.”
“Did it occur to you that these four children change their lives and are just showing forgiveness to a community who helped fate to turned their lives into hell?” a very angry voice articulated.
“And are so grateful they survive that they want to prevent history from repeating the hell it did opon their lives,” more anger piled on Mr. Pollen’s plate.
“Gratitude for surviving is all these four wants to share. They just wants to give back something positive,” some asked, her eyes aimed at Mr. Pollen like light aiming at a dark tunnel.
“I agree,” Grace took back control before someone harmed him. “People who have been through hell and survived to change their lives in a positive way, have a lot to teach others about life. Especially the younger generation.”
Many eyes turned to Mr. Pollen who states, “as the president of this community center, I am sticking to my decision.”
“Two of the four ‘ex-cons,’ are prominent criminal attorneys who are making sure that no children have to endure what they did,” Nora notified.
“And the other two, one is a pediatrician fighting to save children’s lives,” someone notified.
“The other is a Senior Guidance Counselor for a children’s home helping to guide children away from people like you,” someone said pointing to Mr. Pollen.
“People who have been wrongly imprisoned have a lot to teach others about life, because they have learned a lot in the process,” Nora shares remembering the hell her son was forced to endure.
Jermaine Pollen pouted as his face turned red.
“Even in prison, these children have managed to achieve a level of success, you haven’t,” June’s mother said, pointing to Mr. Pollen.
“Yeah,” someone in the audience adds. “For the twenty years you have been employed at Townsend Pharmaceuticals you have never been promoted or given an award for excellent work.”
“Because he must have done only the minimal,” Nora shoved in.
“Yes, he does,” someone adds. “I have worked with him for years.”
“So, there is really nothing to learn from his life,” Grace said staring at him.
“Damn!” some in the audience shout.
“By coming here they are telling us that we are forgiven,” poured from a grateful heart. “And with gratitude, we will welcome them!”
Mr. Pollen got up to leave but no one would move allowing him to exit from the center of the middle aisle. He sat down, in anger.
“Every life is filled with lessons. The most difficult, saddest, and painful lives have so much to teach others and learn from. These four ‘children who were wrongly accused, have turned their negative circumstances into something powerfully positive. They shouldn’t be denied the opportunity to save others from making the same mistakes they made. No one should be denied an opportunity to save a life, no matter where they learn their life lessons!” Grace educates every heart and soul in the audience.
“I agree,” someone said. “And Jermaine Pollen will be removed from his position at this center.”
Many clapped and Grace enlightened, “Where and how we learn our life lessons shouldn’t prevent us from teaching others Mr. Pollen. That’s not your choice.”
“Now, he finally has something in his life to teach others,” someone adds.
How do you learn?
Every life on this planet has something to teach us no matter where or how they learn their life lessons. Any opportunity to learn life lessons shouldn’t be denied by anyone. Our children need to learn from the lives and living of the ones who impacted their lives both negatively and positively. No one should be denied that lifesaving opportunity that is packed with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. — Annelise Lords
