How Do You Choose to Be Inspired?
A daily reminder to practice gentleness

According to Oxford Languages, one of the definitions of “Inspiration” is:
“the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.”
“Inspiration” can also mean:
“the drawing in of breath; inhalation.”
It’s interesting how COVID-19, a respiratory virus that has grown to be a pandemic, continues to pose such a huge threat to our lives on a global basis. Because of this unprecedented shift in our physical reality, we need new and gentler sources of inspiration to help us stay light and buoyant.
Two questions to ask yourself
- What are the usual sources of inspiration and entertainment that are starting to make you feel dull and heavy? Perhaps you no longer resonate with certain people or Netflix shows. That’s perfectly okay and normal. It’s alright to let them go. Feel the relief coming in as you release what you no longer need.
- Who and what do you choose to be inspired by? Perhaps you’re finding new leaders, celebrity figures, friends, colleagues, or family members who have been a wonderful source of inspiration lately. Maybe there are new shows or shows you’ve watched before that bring immense comfort to you. Please make a list of your new sources of inspiration, and remember to schedule some time to receive their positive vibes!
Sharing my answers
For me, I find that I can no longer tolerate some of the adrenaline-pumping Korean drama series. After bingeing on a couple of highly popular series, I realized that I don’t enjoy watching them anymore. It feels so much more enjoyable to watch gentler cartoons such as Trash Truck and Bread Barber instead. I love being entertained with gentleness, light-hearted fun, and calm reassurance like a toddler!
And as for people, I’m finding new inspiration from fellow Medium writers Melissa Bee, Aimée Gramblin, Carolyn Riker, Tracy Stengel, Kim McKinney, and Camille Grady. I continue to feel supported in my business through my mentor George Kao and his Masterheart community. I took a step further in learning more from Lee Harris, an energy intuitive I greatly respect, and I love moving to Erin Stutland’s signature Soul Strolls and feel-good workouts. I have a sudden new appreciation for all my three sons, who make me feel loved and needed every day.
I let go of needing to hear about Donald Trump too! Initially, any news about Donald Trump seemed to be so incredulous that it felt entertaining. After a few months, I just stopped being interested in knowing about his latest tweets. It feels like such a relief to let that go!
Thank you for reading my article. I hope this inspires you to do some spring-cleaning on your sources of inspiration.
