How Do I Lead An Authentic Life?
Learning to show up. Be real. Own who you are.
“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” — Brene Brown
How do you choose to show up?
Do you let your past dictate your future or embrace the opportunity to learn?
Do you reflect on what is going well — and why?
Do you ask yourself, what is it that you want more of? What steps will you take to make that desire a reality?
Authenticity is a choice.
A choice to be present and to be honest — with ourselves and others.
Authenticity is the constant reflection on your priorities and how you are checking in to in fact ensure your priorities remain just that: a priority.
Leading an authentic life requires you to get comfortable being vulnerable and, simply put, give up the act.
You are not always going to have great days — and that is okay.
You don’t need to on a facade to pretend those words or actions didn’t hurt when they are carving into your soul and blanketing sleepless nights. (Yes, this absolutely happened to me last week.)
The journey that led me here includes incredible childhood memories, medical trauma and adversity, and trust — trusting myself above all else.
I am still travelling this journey and recognize that the latter attribute require self-believe in, self care and self love.
That is what I am choosing today and every day. How about you?
