How did I found Medium and why I subscribed for a paid membership.
What are the benefits of having a membership? Is it worth it?
I found Medium through my search and involvement in cryptocurrencies. I have put some money in the ICO state of a company named LockTrip that will become a major player in Traveling and booking. The new and better version of Booking.com.
This company uses Medium to write articles to inform the people about the progress the company is doing.
I could only read 3 or 4 articles per month without subscribing, so I diced that paying $5 / month was worth it, because there are a lot of topics to explore.
After a while, I discovered that I could write articles too and make some money. Interesting, I thought. The hard truth is that after writing more than 30 articles I don’t believe that I have made over $10.
I have read articles from others claiming that they made even $2000 from a single article. I believe them but they have a lot of followers.
In my opinion, paying $5/ month is ok. Take into account that you have access to millions of articles about almost any subject. If you go to buy a newspaper you need $1/ per day. A total of $30 / month.
On the other hand, if you want to make some money as a writer, you can archive it but you need commitment. You must invest time and effort to build your audience.
You must write almost every single day to achieve your goal. My opinion is that is a good investment of your money for the two simple reasons I already mentioned.
- You have access to a variety of articles covering any possible subject you have interest in.
- If you are a writer you can make money, but most importantly it is a good place to start writing.
