How did gaming made me write this article?

“You are never too old (busy) to set another goal or to dream a new dream” C.S. Lewis

It's been a long and tiring day. The rain outside didn't make things any easier.

My work was demanding, and I found myself utterly drained of energy.

The to-do list I had for today felt overwhelming. I needed to select content for my YouTube channel, study for my driving school, and write a new article.

At first, I didn’t set out with the intention to write every day. However, in recent days, I’ve read several articles in which people have shared their experience of writing every day for weeks or even months. I find it extraordinary.

I was provoked by their dedication and realized that I, too, needed to push myself.

Amidst my exhaustion, I noticed that my wife was struggling to find a moment to eat. I decided to take over our kids' care for a while so she could finally have a meal.

Last night, I lost three games, which meant I had to do the push-ups and sit-ups as I had committed to.

In my exhaustion I only wanted to give some relaxing time for myself by playing some League of Legends and maybe recover the LPs I had lost.

So this is the context. A lot of questions in my head, a lot of thoughts and a lot of decisions to choose from. Me from today wants to play games and forget about the to-do list by leaving it unchecked, but me from several days ago and me from tomorrow want to take the right decision.

The right decision is to keep the promise I have made to myself a few days ago. NO GAMING until I finished all my planned tasks for the day.

So, here I am!

Just finished my exercises and now I am writing this article.

This is not the first time when I find myself in this situation. But I have learned the power of using rewards to accomplish my planned tasks. In my case, gaming is my reward. It's my secret weapon for re-energizing myself and finding the motivation to complete my goals, particularly my passion for writing.

But please note that now I am in the process of perfecting this concept.

Gaming isn't just a pastime; it could be a source of motivation and energy when I need it most. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected things can help us thrive and stay committed to our goals.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. — Steve Jobs

It’s not just about gaming. It can be about anything, as long as it brings you joy and relax.

What do you think about this approach and what is your reward after you check your to-do list?

Thank you for your time reading this and please make those hands clap for me! 😄
