How Can You Make $5000 With Cold-Emails? A To Z Guide

A detailed guide to make $5000 a month

9 to 5 Job?

Man! I’m done with it. I just can’t do it anymore.

I was in my bed, thinking if there’s a way out.

I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life.

I know there’s gotta be something else out there for me.

But what is it?

What am I supposed to do?

This goes on for a few days until, one day, an idea pops into my head.

Why not convert my part-time freelancing thing into my full-time job?

What’s your WHY?

Remember that you need to know your “Why” before doing something.

So my “WHY” was “THE FREEDOM”

The freedom to work at my pace, the freedom to make my schedule, the freedom of not asking anyone if I want to take a few days off.

The Story Begins!

I said SAYONARA to my job and started freelancing.

In the beginning, I was struggling to find clients. I knew there had to be a better way of finding them, but I didn’t know what it was.

So, one day, I decided to go on a quest and see if I could make money with cold emails.

What happened next changed my life forever!

In this blog post, you will learn how I made $5000 from cold emails in just 3 months, the strategies you can use to get 10 high-paying clients from cold emails alone.

Part 1: Where to find clients?

I head to AppFutura.com. AppFutura is a community where you can find the details of IT and Marketing companies across the globe.

Screengrab from Appfutura.com

I opened up their website and then clicked on “Company Categories.”

I wanted to pitch digital marketing agencies, so I chose that category. But you can select as per your skillset.

The website will show you the list of companies per your selected category. See the picture above.

I didn’t want to reach out to the companies randomly. So I chose to start with the companies in Canada.

Screengrab from Appfutura.com

If you want to be country-specific like me, scroll down, you’ll see the list of countries. I chose Canada.

Now you can see the name of companies in your chosen country. Click on the company’s name to see its information.

Click on visit website to get company’s info like their number, email id, etc.

I want your attention now!

This is a crucial step, don’t miss it for the W.O.R.L.D

You got their email id? Bravo!

Do an additional thing to increase your chances of getting work from these companies.

Connect with them on LinkedIn. BUT PLEASE DON’T START SELLING YOUR SERVICE.

Connecting with them means building a relationship with them.

Here you can see “See all 18 employees on LinkedIn.” Click on it to see the people who are working for this company.

Your task is to find people from Marketing or HR.

I used this technique, and it worked.

Make sure that your profile is updated and your portfolio link is updated for them to see.

When you connect with them on LinkedIn, make sure to send a really pleasant customized note.

Say something good about their company. Check their portfolio section, see their projects, and comment on something good related to that.

We all love to feel appreciated, don’t we? Similar is the case here.

Part 2: How to write a perfect cold email?

I have my secret recipe for writing cold emails.

Understand human psychology to write cold emails.

Remember that the other person will make a decision just after reading your email.

What to do?

1) Research about the company

Before you start writing your cold email, it’s important to do some research.

You need to know more about the company first. What are their needs, and what pain points can you address in your email?

Knowing this information will help you craft a relevant and interesting message to them.

2) Use a friendly opening and closing

Be sure to open or close your email with a friendly message such as “thanks for taking the time to read this” or “I hope you have a great day.”

This will help leave a positive impression on the person and make them more likely to respond to your email in the future.

3) Use conversational tone

The best cold emails are written in a casual, conversational tone that sounds like you’re talking to your target market face-to-face.

This is much better than an overly formal or robotic tone which often translates poorly over email and comes off as spammy.

Remember: the person on the other end is a human, not a robot!

4) Be Concise

Do you like it if someone tells you a long story in a few small paragraphs?

Just like you love it, they love it too. Please be concise.

Address their pain points.

5) Remember their pain points

One of the main reasons people don’t respond to cold emails is that they’re not relevant or interesting.

So, make sure you address the person’s pain points in your email. This will help show that you understand their needs and offer something of value.

6) STOP saying, “I am great at blah blah.”

Talk about their benefits. Don’t talk about how good you are. They are not interested in knowing how many gold medals you have. They want to see what you can do for them.

Don’t talk about yourself too much. People usually respond to cold emails that are relevant, interesting, and clear. So make sure you show them how your service can help them in the best possible way.

7) Make them curious

End your email with a question that encourages the person to respond.

This can be something as simple as “Do you have any time for a call next week?” or “I can help you generate more leads. Let’s talk more about it if you are interested.”

8) Sell without selling

If you want the person on the other end to take action, they need to see that you can help them with whatever pain point or challenge they’re facing. So, offer your expertise and explain how it will help solve their problems clearly and concisely.

9) Proofread your email

Before you send your cold email, be sure to proofread it for mistakes.

Typos and errors can often come across as unprofessional and make you look like you don’t care about the person you’re emailing.

So, take the time to read through your email a few times to ensure it’s perfect.

10) Test different versions of your email

Not all cold emails are created equal, so be sure to test out different versions of your message to see which one performs the best. This will help you improve your response rate and get more leads or sales from your cold email campaigns.

Part 3: The Result

It all comes down to $5000

This is the most exciting + scary part. Why?

Because you won’t always get a positive response, some will be positive, some will be negative, some won’t reply, and some incomplete replies too.

So, don’t get demotivated. Prepare yourself to taste the flavor of victory and defeat both.

The entire process wasn’t easy for me too. Look at the incomplete reply I got.

Ok. But what?

Even after the follow-up, I didn’t hear from this person.

Now, let me take you to the exciting results I got.

I got this email from a company after sending around 10 cold emails. They quickly asked about the pricing details. Surely, a sign of victory!

Look at this reply from Tristan. We all have some average days where we don’t feel like talking. Sometimes, a pleasant email makes our day. Just like I emailed Tristan, she mentioned how my email brightened her morning.

I didn’t even ask for the call. She initiated it. This is why I say the more empathetic and friendly you sound in an email, the more leads you can get.

Payment Proof

Luisa is one of the lovely clients I have. See, it’s all about the relationship. Think and act like an empath if you want to get more clients.

One more proof for you.

Now you have everything in front of you.

How it started vs. how it’s going.

You, too, can make some awesome clients by using my method.

Oh, Wait!

Let me share a freebie with you. I’m sharing the email template I use. Modify it as per your choice, and keep sending awesome emails!

You must be swamped with work, so I’ll be brief — the true admirer of kiss rule.

I saw your company’s work; it’s commendable. Specially I loved the project {name} (talk about the project from their portfolio)

Storytelling is something that people adore, and it’s missing in your blogs. Here, I can help you.

Just need your 2 minutes; I promise you won’t get bored. Here is my writing piece.
