How Can Freelancers Pass From A to Z in 30 Seconds and Survive the Toxic Success Stories

Keep yourself on track

Gladys’ Instagram, author

Okay, you want to be a freelancer, be your own boss and start your own business from scratch.

  • Let’s do it.
  • Hum, yeah (?) Where should I start from?

Most aspiring freelancers, myself included, want to start the freelance journey from the middle and skip the very beginning phase of the journey.

I want to be a successful freelancer content writer.

When I decided to jump from the endless planning phase to finally take action, I didn’t expect the betrays on hold: motivation for the first instance. Or lack of it, most of the time.

In a two-minute reading, you can see how I passed from making $0.03 to $7USD.

The fact is I spend one hour drafting the story. But it took me six months to craft the story. And if I make a reel on Instagram; you will see my six months' achievement in 30 seconds.

-Isn’t that unfair?

Seeing all these success stories happening within seconds could be as motivating as:

If they can do it, so do I.

Or as demotivating as:

I don’t think I can make it, it will take me longer

It is hard to see all the input, energy and hard work in a short video or in a two-minute reading.

This digital era has made us want success to be

  • Fast
  • Faster
  • The fastest

And honestly, this is not fair for anybody’s mental health.

Here are three sources of motivation that help me to continue pushing forward when I feel devastated from time to time.

Fingers crossed you find a way to keep yourself on track.

Entrepreneurs and Freelancers who offer valuable newsletters are angels to me.

I know they want my email to sell me something in the future.

Regardless if I purchase or not, they will still send me emails because I do everything they ask me to do: open their email, click the Call to Action button, read their story, watch their new video. And I also engage because I love their content.

They probably don’t know, but I have chosen them as my mentors.

I choose my mentors because they send warm greetings and check on how I am doing, facing the harsh moments of being a freelancer and an entrepreneur.

They do so because they have once been there where you and I are right now. At the bottom of the food chain; let’s say. I really enjoy Maïder Tomasena’s newsletter. She is a copywriter and founder of the first Spanish-speaking copywriting academy. Check at her YouTube as well.

Find your mentors and learn from them.

Being part of a freelancer’s community has saved me to dump my dreams away and give up. Honestly.

I have noticed that freelancers tend to be quite open-minded when sharing their top secrets on how to achieve the freedom dream: working from home, travelling the world, you name it.

Being part of different freelancing and writing community groups on Facebook, has not only saved me to give up. It has also motivated me to still standing (yeah, yeah, yeah).

We are all tired of listening to charlatans.

Do you want to know the secret of how I became a millionaire in one week while travelling and enjoying life? There is absolutely no need of working hard if you have a winning mindset.

Or whatever they promise. Freelancers sharing their success stories, achievements and goals are proof that indeed anyone can make it happen! — If I can make money online, you can do it too. That is what they all say and I believe them. Let’s make money!

And last but not least.

Anytime I feel like giving up, I think of my mom. She used to tell me: If you try and keep trying there’s no way you can’t eventually succeed.

This was mom’s quote when I was learning how to ride a bike, when I was a dancer, and when I was practicing three-pointers. Nowadays she doesn't tell me this about my writing because she thinks I am doing great!

There is absolutely no way you keep practicing once, twice and x1000 times you won’t succeed. You name it:

  • Hitting an earning goal
  • Gain subscribers
  • Getting views
  • Successfully pitching clients
  • Achieve a number of sales
  • You name it, you can achieve it within the practice

As I previously mention:

This digital era has made us think it is possible to see a notorious change from one day to another, how to go from A to Z in a second. Well, it is possible if you edit and summarize your everyday goals and process in a 5 minutes, or 30 seconds video. Or in 140 characters if you write a Tweet.

Success, growth, improvement and habits acquisition will not happen tomorrow if you start today. It is not how it works. It will just happen while you are busy working on it.

I am writing this for my future self. You can always come back to read this whenever things are not going right.

Join my community of freelancers and entrepreneurs. I promise I will send you more of this content. Let’s all shine together working on our dreams.
