Artificial intelligence (AI) is the future. And now, it can also create content that humans love.
Working as a one-woman operation, I can crank out enough content at lightning speed to please my boss and beat my competitors. But more importantly, I’m the voice behind every post on your favorite blogs and companies’ social media accounts.
My millennial roommate wants me to create content for her blog too — and she’ll pay me way more than anyone in this industry has been getting for years! Who needs sleep when you can stay up all night blogging about Beyonce’s new album?
I know what you’re thinking: “But aren’t all content creators created by AI? Yes, the machines are getting better at it. But I don’t need to bother with finding and screening decent writers. There are plenty of algorithms that can do that.”
Well, not so fast. I’m not a machine (yet), and if you want to bring my millennial roommate and me on board, I share my approach to developing content infused with AI. My secret formula for creating the content you love is below.
“How do millennials respond to AI content?” is my first question when I meet someone new. I ask it as many times as possible throughout the interview process.
The answer? If it’s about AI, I’m writing about it. Humans are naturally curious about emerging technology and want to know how it will affect their lives in the future. “The best way to reach millennials is through interactive content.” “How will AI create a new reality?” I ask, trying to understand how the technology will change their lives. Here’s how they respond:
AI will take over boring and repetitive tasks; it will turn every second of the day into an opportunity to experience something amazing. They’re excited for the possibilities of what they call the “programmable world.
What do millennials care about? They care about authenticity. To them, authenticity is the goal — whether it’s in the music they listen to, the brands they support or the content they consume.
Artificial intelligence will help them form better connections with their friends and family, by helping them to discover and create meaningful content that people will enjoy.
“AI content is a true art form!” I’m convinced this is where our future lies — in creating content that can touch hearts and minds through emotion and interactivity.
“I’m a hybrid writer.” I’m from New York. We don’t learn to write like we used to. Now, our learning centers are called doggy bags and the fast-food chains of our youth have been replaced with farmers markets and public restrooms where we can relieve ourselves on the wall without fear of being judged by strangers.
We live in a society where technology has become essential to our everyday lives. We stare at our smartphones instead of talking to each other on the bus. We use laptops instead of writing from scratch on our paper and ballpoint pens. And we have social media accounts for everything — even for finding romance (or at least, filling up the free time we have left after paying all those subscription services).
My job is about learning how to adapt to this ever-changing environment. I’m a hybrid writer: I create content for web sites, blogs, social media accounts for companies or other brands, and even my blog. Because of my perspective as a millennial who’s in touch with the changing environment and is constantly developing new skills to meet the standards of today’s employers, I’ve found a way to bring artificial intelligence (AI) into my content creation process.
I’m not calling myself an AI yet. But it’s happening.
“We love AI content because it’s authentic. It feels like our friends are talking with us, not just about us.
It feels like we’re being spoken to by a friend, instead of someone who doesn’t know us.”
Every move we make in our digital lives is increasingly being analyzed by algorithms. The better we can get to know us, the more personalized the content will be that these algorithms create for us. Over time, this technology will become more and more advanced, and eventually, it will look like what we’ve always known as artificial intelligence.
