Honesty — Do You Get What You See?
All my son needed was a tiny bit of honesty. Just a little bit.

My son is learning to code in the daytime and delivers Uber eats in the evening and on the weekends. That’s how he lives and pays his bills. His car is the vehicle that he uses to generate his only income. He wants a better life, and he thinks doing something he enjoys is the best way for him. His car is fifteen years old, and he learned to fix everything on it himself. Lately, as he fixed one thing, another problem came up.
His hazard lights came on and refused to go off. He checked the engine and noticed that the negative battery terminal was corroded. He cleaned his engine, the battery terminal, and everything else surrounding the battery. Then he checked the voltage. It was below normal. He got his brother to jump him. For the past twelve days, his battery has been dying. Checking the terminal, it was corroded again. He removed it and cleaned it. His brother had to jump-start him, often.
The first thing he did was take the battery which was barely one year old and was still under warranty back to the place he bought it. It was tested and he was told that it was fine.
He checked and double-checked everything. He thought it was a fuse that was draining the most current and replaced all of them. At night he had to disconnect the negative terminal and reconnect it the next morning. He kept checking and double-checking the voltage throughout the day. This problem disrupts his coding sessions and his income stream. He lost two weekends of income.
No matter what he did, the battery kept dying.
He was strolling on YouTube trying to find a solution when he saw a video that explained that since his battery was still under warranty, they would have to replace it. So, they are going to tell you it is good, no matter what. He took it back to them. They replace it without asking any questions.
Since he installed the new battery, his car is fine. The negative terminal is no longer corroding. His voltage isn’t dipping, and he doesn’t have to get his brother to jump-start him.
The high cost of living is affecting everyone, everywhere in our world now. Many of us must be fighting many obstacles and challenges daily to just eat and pay our bills. Homelessness is on the rise in Tampa where he is and across the US. Go to the Greyhound Bus Station on North Marion Street in Tampa Fla and you will see numerous homeless people sleeping there at night.
All my son needed was a tiny bit of honesty. Just a little bit. My son lost two weeks of income because of the dishonesty of a multi-million-dollar business.
One small battery. A multi-million-dollar company is willing to cheat you of one tiny car battery.
How dishonest are these businesses? Aren’t they aware that many of us are eking out a living and need honesty?
Aren’t they aware how disastrous their decision to cheat the consumer affects their lives, families, incomes, decisions, jobs, and the ones who rely on us for anything?
All of humanity needs honesty like the body needs food and water. Like the heart and soul need love and kindness.
We were raised to believe that ‘honesty is the best policy.’
Lately, our world and many humans have done their best to prove to us that it isn’t.
Please, I beg of you, whenever you can, for 2024, give honesty where it’s needed.
Some of us don’t need a lot and will be satisfied with the little bit we get.
Give Honesty for 2024!
Happy New Year Everyone.
