When did we lose our compassion for people?

A San Francisco art gallery owner was caught on video spraying a homeless woman with a water hose before telling her to move. What the hell is wrong with this guy?

According to CBS News, a warrant was issued for gallery owner Shannon Collier Gwin’s arrest for misdemeanor battery. In a statement to CBS San Francisco, Gwin was apologetic and claimed he’d “put a tremendous amount of effort into helping this woman.”

I guess he was helping her bathe.

This begs the question: When did we stop caring about people? How did Gwin decide this was the best course of action?

In January, the average temperature in the City by the Bay is 57 degrees. No, it’s an uncomfortable temperature — unless you’re soaking wet.

Gwin, owner of Foster Gwin Gallery claimed he made numerous attempts to get the woman off the streets, and hosing her down was a last resort.

“It’s a very, very sad situation, and she’s very psychotic,” Gwin said.

Let’s get this straight. Gwin says the woman is psychotic. And he decides the best way to get her off the street is to break out the water hose. In whose psychotic mind was this the right action to take?
