POETRY ON MEDIUM
High School Track Basket Weaving
Full of warm-fuzzy feelings and rain

I remember those all day affairs
waiting in rain as turf squirmed at the bottom of our shoes
and the butterflies kept flapping because of four school colors and events layered like fruit trays.
from time to time tasting our friends whom we’ve met at some coy intersection of time and space.
at other times we talked story marathons as people do until they think they know themselves.
before a relay, someone asked if I had a girlfriend, and this was very interesting because of sexual polarity, but I remember looking into a picture of me
running the 100 meter race, surprised by the muscle, it’s pulse, grown before I could sing Spanish songs and entertain.
we played with shoe strings and fire, amusing ourselves,
all the while brimming with warm-fuzzy-feelings and rain.
