Here’s Why People Are Canceling Travis Scott

One of the deadliest concerts in recent memory

Travis Scott is in the middle of, what could only be described, as a complete shit show. The Houston rapper is getting his butt sued off and it has to do with this crazy tragedy that happened at this event called Astroworld where there was a tragic incident where eight people were killed after a crowd surged forward while the rapper was performing. Now Travis Scott has this annual event called Astroworld, which you could look at it as a hip-hop mosh-pit fest, where he gathers about 50,000 people at NRG Park in Houston, the same place where Six Flags Astroworld used to be. The rapper is usually known for having these really exciting shows where there’s body surfing and chaos everywhere. Like, seriously, it’s some crazy shit.

So here’s the deal that’s really interesting. Think about it like this: What does Travis Scott represent? If you Google the images of Astroworld, you’ll probably have little to no Black people at the event.

Now that’s fascinating to me. It’s really interesting to me that you have this one Black dude rapping in front of a sea of white people rocking the crowd. Some people may consider this some sort of sign of “Black Power” or something like that — I don’t know if that’s what you would want to call it. But if you look at the image above, you’ll see all these white people walking into the mouth of Travis Scott. So you process this, right, and say, “What is this?” What is this phenomenon called “commercialized hip-hop?” Now I’m not talking about real hip-hop, like Kendrick Lamar, J-Cole, Larry June, Gangstarr, KRS-One; I’m not talking about the things that were done in hip-hop to elevate Black people. I’m talking about the bullshit. I’m talking about the current trend of hip-hop that promotes drug usage, killing each other, over-sexualization — just self-destructive behavior. That’s what I’m talking about. So you have this interesting phenomenon where a guy like Travis Scott performing with a mouth full of colorful teeth and everything else where he’s rapping, yelling, and screaming “AAHHHHHHHH!!!!!” He’s doing stage dives, going crazy and the crowd full of white people is loving. There like “Go negro, Go!”

Understand this: What you are seeing at most of these concerts today are modernized Minstrel Shows. Where you have the Black man performing by doing everything that is insane to entertain white people. Now white people may be entertained by these negros, but it doesn’t mean they are influenced by them. The ones who are typically influenced by these negros are other Black people because they see this as the only way for success. If you pay attention to most of the mainstream rappers, they all dress the same, act the same, rapper the same, etc. What you see is mass production of destructive rappers by white-owned major record labels to aid in the genocide of Black people which aids white genetic survival (White Supremacy). The message is consistent in the music: Your purpose in life is to destroy your community with guns, drugs, and self-hate. But I’m her to tell you that’s not true. Your purpose is to build wealth, raise strong intelligent children, build strong relationships (Black men and Black Women coming together), and build wealth within the community. Travis Scott, unfortunately, does not represent this, that’s why record labels love him.

My sincerest condolences go out to all the families of the victims affected by the tragedy that took place at Astroworld.
