Charity And Kindness

Helping Other People Does Not Include You!

Are you helping others or are you just actually helping yourself?

What you will learn from this article.

Displaying what a kind person you are.

I am shocked at some people’s true intent.

The real way to help others anonymously.

You either have honour or you do not.

Think before you judge other people.

Displaying what a kind person you are.

It so happens I just watched a video someone sent to me on WhatsApp, and maybe it’s just me. But I do not see how “displaying your kindness” has much to do with helping other people!

You must have seen countless videos of people helping the needy and the homeless, right? Well, I think we need more people like that, only, we need real people with sincere intentions.

In my opinion, if you want to do good then do good without showing the world what a “good person” you are! Because when you make videos of how you help other people.

Are you really “helping” people in need, or are you, in all honesty just helping yourself with video views? Because video views get you paid, simple as that!

Just a thought…

Perhaps I’m just too “old school”, or perhaps I am being “unfair”. Nonetheless, this is just my own personal opinion. Do leave a comment if you agree or do not agree with me.

I for one am just getting really tired of watching videos about “how kind and generous” people are. I say if you are really that “kind” to others, then you need not humiliate them by posting their faces all over the internet in videos for instance!

That poor person, homeless person, or person in need already feels humiliated and belittled. And yes, in case you have doubts, I have been there, so I know how that feels!

I am shocked at some people’s true intent.

If you really want to help someone, then no one else needs to know. It’s not about “you”, it’s about the “person in need”. So, don’t make it about yourself and your kindness.

And for heaven’s sake, leave religion out of it! The particular video I just watched, also tells the homeless person how “God” answered his prayers today, really!?

That just sends me around the bend, and I go from placid to p*ssed in 3 seconds flat. Because I have no respect for “falseness”. True goodness does NOT look like that!

Pardon me if I am “kicking down the door” again, but I think it’s about time someone “ripped this band-aid off!”. If you know me through my work, then you will also know that I call an ace an ace!

The real way to help others anonymously.

I say, if you want to help people, then do it anonymously! No one else needs to know, let alone the whole world! When you “advertise” your kindness, then there’s not much “True Kindness” there.

Now before I carry on, some readers might think, “Okay, Deon, so have you helped other people?”. Well, not to be blunt, but that has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else except myself and the people involved. Moving on…

When you see people struggling, let’s just say you drive by a house, and you can see a need. Or you stop at the traffic light and see a beggar, or anyone struggling for that matter.

Then go to the shops, and if you are fortunate enough to afford it, then go buy the people some groceries from your local supermarket. And spare no expense!

Then, go to the “needy household” you saw, unpack the groceries in front of their gate or front door, and ring the bell or call out to them. Once you see they have noticed you they will clearly come and fetch what you left behind.

If you like, then you can leave a little note and assure them that “all this stuff” is theirs to use, as they see fit! Once you are sure that they have noticed you and all the “groceries” for instance.

Then get in your car and leave in such a way that they cannot even see your vehicle’s number plate. The point is to be anonymous! They don’t necessarily need to know who you are.

In the case of a beggar, or person in need at the traffic light, or on the street corner. Obviously, they will see who you are, but they are the only ones who need to see that.

Karma and the Universe noticed. To me, that is quite enough. As for the reward, (not video views) that look on the person’s face is more than reward enough, thank you!

You either have honour or you do not.

With this article, I am pretty sure that I am going to “step on a few toes”, but I don’t care. Because I am getting rather tired of all these “do good superstars”.

In fact, I find it appalling! Do you really call humiliating someone even more GLOBALLY, an act of kindness? No, I call it self-centred, and self-serving.

Because advertising your so-called “kindness”, is all about you and not the person in need. As mentioned, a while back, yes, I used to be one of those “needy people”.

So, I know what that feels like before all the judges start getting hold of me. And I am telling you that it is degrading, and humiliating what you are doing when you make videos of your so-called “kindness”.

I know what it feels like to “live in your car”, and I know what “hunger” feels like. But I also know what success tastes like, and it is so much sweeter when you never forget where you came from!

True kindness and honour will always be anonymous, in my opinion anyway. Or, just between you and the people you help. They don’t even need to know who you are; they only need to know that help has arrived.

Think before you judge other people.

If you are not in a position to help someone, then the least you can do is to be kind in your actions. No need to judge the person in need. Because you do not know their story.

What brought that person standing there hungry, alone, and cold to that particular point in their lives? You do not know! And you should just be grateful that you are not the one standing there.

A simple and kind greeting or form of acknowledgement will suffice if you are not in a financial position to help. Those people are not “invisible”, so stop treating them like they are!

They are real people, with real problems, and in most cases, they need your help if you are in a position to offer it. Not your judgment and belittlement.

I have heard people shouting, “Get a job!”. Can you please just shut your pie hole if you don’t have something nice to say? You do not know their story!

Just put yourself in that person’s shoes, or no, even better. Try walking in their shoes for a day or two and see if you feel the same. I bet you will not be able to handle half of what they have already lived through and survived!
