Help Us Help You
Honestly, please let us help you
What do we do for you?
Our role as editors is to receive your work product and:
Review the work against our guidelines for submission. This includes:

How Does This Help You?
We want to ensure your article, post, or story is published correctly. In other words, it’s what you want. There are certain Medium guidelines and if you follow them it is more likely that your story will get attention and possible distribution and boosting.
We want to make sure that it looks good. Presentation can be key to how many people are engaged by your writing. We won’t change your title. That must be your work. However, we might add a period or question mark or change a misspelled word, but that’s about it.
We have three options if you didn’t use the small T for a sub-title. We can do that for you if the sub-title is obvious, or if not, we can create one (we don’t like to do this even though we can as the editor). Or, we can leave you a private note and request that you make the change.
A Graphic
Many studies show that the image either engages or is a takeaway, depending on the graphic. Your work must have an image you select. While we could, we won’t.
You MUST give credit to the source using a live link. Please see the picture above at the beginning of this article as an example. It could be you, your friend, the Library of Congress, or Unsplash; it doesn’t matter. As writers, we appreciate recognition for what we do, and they do, too. Plus, there could be copyright (legal) issues to consider. Please don’t forget.
Giving credit to photos and art is a Medium policy.
The Article, Poem, Post, or Story.
Our job is to help ensure that what you’ve written is placed in the very best circumstance to be read. Spelling and sometimes grammar are things we’ll change, but we don’t have to.
Why is that? First, we’re all volunteers. We’re trying to do our best for our writers at Dancing Elephant Press. We love you guys. We want the best for you. Grammar is tricky; it depends on where you’re from. We have writers from all over the world. Spelling is also an issue. It’s doubtful that an English-speaking writer would want to sound like an American. They are two different languages.
Many of our writers write in more than one accent. Shouldn’t their personality be represented? Of course. We try hard to take that into account as well.
AI vs. HI
Over the past six months, the number of instances where a writer has submitted work using AI writing has dramatically increased. If we believe that your work has an AI writing component, it WILL BE REJECTED.
AI graphics and images are acceptable for now. If you’re reading the articles about this subject, you know that copywriting is a huge issue. For now, the jury is still out, as are the lawsuits that are coming from many places. So, they are acceptable for now.
In Summary
Our job is to help you with the best-published piece in the greatest publication, Dancing Elephants Press.
Please also check our submission guidelines if you have any questions.
