Hello, Death

The “Hello” haiku series pt. 2

Hello, everybody’s greatest fear and massive danger,

so craved, so rebutted, so pursued,

mistress Death.

Hello, Death.

So feared yet do craved, so rebutted yet so pursued by my kind, the mentally ill.

We, the misunderstood. We, the disposable. We, the forgotten and left behind.

We, who no one but us can understand, we, who no one but us can deeply empathize with.

We have chased you down, Death, often on our own, sometimes side by side with someone else. We have wanted you so badly, yet we have feared you so deeply.

Be nice to us when the time comes, Death, and don’t misunderstand us. Don’t dispose of us. Don’t forget us or leave us behind. Empathize with us and don’t be harsh to us.

It’s just the way we are.
