My Valentine/Teacher
Hearts, Chocolates, and Coffee
February Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Love & Hearts”
To Sir — Or Miss — With Love!
To Sir, with Love, a film about a teacher (Sidney Poitier) and his bunch of rebellious students, is one of my favorite movies. So, I write this “Love and Hearts” post as a Valentine’s Day greeting to teachers everywhere.
The grandkids were busy with Valentine’s Day prep this weekend.
They went to the store with my daughter to buy mini Valentine’s Day cards, “heart stickers,” and small rolls of candy for their classmates.
They also bought fruity beverage packs for their in-class party.
But their super special gift purchases were two heart-shaped boxes of Ferrero Rocher chocolates — for their class teachers.
My daughter added Starbucks gift cards to the chocolates. “The kids love their teachers,” she said.
My mother was a teacher. It is something my daughter remembers and appreciates about her grandmother. Something she wants to pay forward.
So, in memory of my mother, and taking my cue from her granddaughter, I would like to say:
To Sir, Miss, or Ma’am, Thank You for being our children’s heroes. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thanks Mary Chang Story Writer for publishing my story! 🌼🌻
