HB90 Bootcamp Quarter 3: Writing Tasks on Sticky Notes and Using the Kanban Board, & Continuing In a Planner
For Writers by A Writer, Great Productivity Tools Part 3

Heart Breathing 90-Day Outcome Goals, Projects, and Tasks using a 90-day method and a Kanban board, modified. This method was developed by Sarra Cannon for writers to help them write more efficiently and truly reach their goals, projects, and tasks. I finished the course on Saturday, June 18 and I am enthralled with Sarra’s classes. She created these classes back in Quarter 3 of 2018.

Day 6: Kanban Board Set Up and Adding Your Tasks as Sticky Notes
Oh MY, this is the fun, the fast, and the furious part of the course. It is the most visual part as well. People see these boards up for writers. Some boards are used for plots and characters, others use them for tasks. Maybe for counting their words and steps. Whichever way you create your Kanban Board, it is something that should work for you.
The days follow as such:
- Day One: Vision Board
- Day Two: What I Need, Should, and Want for my Goals and Prioritize My Lists
- Day Three: Time Blocks, What Are They, How Many For the Quarter?
- Day Four: Your Outcome Goals, Brainstorming Goals, and Choose Only Three
- Day Five: Projects! So Much More Than Mini Goals, These Have Due Dates
- Day Six: Kanban Board Set Up and Adding Your Tasks
- Day Seven: Continuation, Planner Use of the Week and Dailies
I set my kanban board up using poster board from Walmart, two boards my husband and I glued to the wall. Then we pushed them together to make one large 72-inch wall across, and 48-inch high. I used washi tape, a type of pretty tape used by paper craft and planner-type of people, to delineate the goals I had. Purple for Social Media, Pink for my Memoir, and Teal for Healthy Lifestyle were the colors of the goals.
Once the projects are figured out per goal, then you brainstorm the different tasks within that project. Such as for my memoir, I want to get the rough draft done by the end of July. I believe there will be 150 short chapters, and I am on chapter 42 when I started the course. I figure I need to write another 111 chapters, which includes an index, vocabulary chapter, and an epilogue.
That means 111 tasks. One hundred and eleven sticky notes. They will go up on the board. There are other tasks to other projects too, once I realize that the sticky notes I got for all of those tasks are NOT as good as the 3M kind.
It took a while, but I was able to get all the tasks (and therefore sticky notes) up on my board.
Day 7: Continuation, Planner, Tasks, A Week, and Daily Sheets
This last day was bittersweet. We had an amazing time working together and being part of a group that moved along within the videos. I felt fortunate that I was able to spend time focusing on what is important to me. I still was able to have fun, make my planner colorful, and felt excited to continue my outcome goals.

I filled out tasks bootcamp week (I called it bookcamp by mistake…hahaha)

The Video gives you a clearer view of the Kanban Board and this week filled out, starting with the Monday daily done. I will be back next week with a filled out and completed week so you can see how it works.
