Having Articles Published in Pubs Does not Influence How They are Read
So, now, can we move?
If you’re new on Medium, this short piece is a guide. If you’re hitting your head on metal because your articles are not being accepted in Medium pubs, this article is for you.
I have just discovered from writers and I have also witnessed it that having your articles published in pubs does not guarantee their hike in reads in your Stats.
I have had more than 10 articles published on various pubs but none has performed better than the ones I self-published. There is still an article I published in a pub that is yet to gain single traction. It will not until I begin to share it by myself on different platforms.
Take a look at this screenshot Stats of my newly published articles.
In the picture above, the 4th and the 5th articles were published on the same date. The 5th was accepted by a pub and published while the 4th “The 8 Types of Writers You will meet on Medium” was rejected and was self-published.
I was thinking that when an article is published in a pub, it will be seen by other writers in that pub. I used to think that the numerous followers of the pub will automatically see the article and boost the reads.
From what I have observed, it is not so. What makes the difference is the writer’s efforts in sharing his or her works.
So, when next you receive this note from a pub editor “Thanks for publishing with us but we are going to pass on this one”, just hit the publish button and self publish the story.
Move on!
It doesn't make any difference.
