The 8 Types of Writers You Will Meet on Medium
One of the Lists is you or me

“By their fruits, you shall know them”
Medium is filled with writers of various disciplines from different walks of life. The majority of these writers are here because of the dough. Our writings are inspired by the takes home.
I have not been too long on Medium but I have gathered enough momentum the little time I have spent studying my way around the medium. If you are a book worm like myself, It will not take you long to acquaint yourself with all that is happening here.
There are numerous articles flying on Medium that will keep any newcomer abreast of every aspect of the platform. This information sometimes has some elements of misinformation. Others still are well-informed written pieces.
Every writer has an intention to pass a message or messages to the readers. The intention we have while writing a story places us and our writings on a particular scale. I want to discuss the various titles we have earned for ourselves through what we dish out on Medium.
If you are a newbie on Medium, the following are the types of writers you will meet on Medium.
The Pizza and Pasta writers
This is the group of writers that have exhausted their article writing ideas. They have nothing to write anymore. Article ideas are no longer coming as it was used to when they began on Medium.
But they must write; they must dish out something to keep their story feed warm. So, they engage in any meaningless ideas to keep the train moving.
Their articles are always: Snake and birds story, Pizza and pasta story or winter and snow story. So, anytime you come across “The thread and needle story” or the Nurse and the injection story, know that the Pizza and Pasta writers have published.
The Regular Callers
This group of writers means business on Medium. They are like that group of students that answer attendance in the class comes rain, comes the sun.
They have the habit of dishing out articles daily on Medium. Even if it is 30 seconds read, they will write.
They have made it compulsory for themselves to write attendance on Medium daily. There is no day that passes on Medium without them publishing articles on Medium. These are the big writers who have made it big through writing.
The curation writers
I tag this group of writers the ‘Blood pressure raisers’. They are the curation testimony group of writers. They are always focusing on how their articles get curated.
“How my articles got curated and distributed in 4 topics one hour after I published them”. This is usually the tone of their articles.
This type of article is a source of demoralization for other writers who are desperate to get curated or who have been looking out for curation for a long time and none is yet to come. But, to others who are determined to succeed, they see it as a push to work harder. It makes them press harder and work more on their articles.
The great instructors
These are the great writers on Medium. They have useful tips, advice, and teachings for their readers always. This group of writers is not always money conscious. They are driven by the passions they have for writing.
The great instructors have something for everyone. Their articles are always standing out among other articles. These writers have risen to the greatest height on Medium.
The get rich quick writers
This group of writers is very intelligent. But they are opportunists. They joined Medium and studied the environment first. They discovered that all persons on Medium have ‘the get rich quick’ syndrome, especially the newbies. They capitalized their articles on it and boom.
They gather tractions within a short time on Medium because they tell the readers and the desperate new writers what they want to hear. Their articles are characterized by how they hit it big on Medium in 10 days.
“15 days on Medium and I made $60: see what I did”.
“How I made $100 on Medium immediately i joined: you too can”
“How you can hit the jackpot on Medium in a short time”.
No one is doubting that writers can make it on Medium. But they have decided to include making it quick in a very short time even without working hard for it.
They may gain views for the time being but they will lose followers in the near future because soon, the followers will find out they have been deceived. I no longer patronize such articles.
On Medium, I have learned that there is no short cut to Rome. Those who have made it have followed one route. That is, they followed the route of consistency, patient, and persistence.
The Show-stealers

This group of writers is not always frequent in their writings. They come to Medium once in while and drop their pieces. But each time they feature, they steal the show. They are always dishing out well-written articles. They have mind-blowing pieces always.
This is the type of writer I will like to become on Medium in the future. When I shall gain my balance and popularity, I shall sit back and watch. A new writer should be consistent in writing and publishing on Medium.
The determined writers
This group of writers has decided to make it on Medium against all odds. They have experienced turned down from publications, low or no curation, yet they keep pressing hard. This group of writers does not take no as an excuse for giving up.
They have created their own publication and feature their stories. They go the extra mile in building followers and gaining tractions for their stories.
The Solicitors
This group of writers is on Medium only to sell their articles. They care less about what others are writing. They can't even read other articles because they are not registered members on Medium.
They are not concerned about the impacts their pieces have on the readers. All they want is to gather reads and claps. They perch around on different writing pages, soliciting for reads and responses for their articles.
Now that we have known about the categories of writers on Medium and their scales, I have a question.
Where do you belong?
It is not the truth you know that sets you free. It is the truth you know and speak.
