I do the same thing on Medium as I do in real life with collecting books — my shelves are full of novels in my “to be read” list that I’ll eventually get around to. While I do own a Kindle, reading a physical book has no comparison: that slightly musty old-book smell or the fresh aroma of newly printed ink — the heavy weight of the physical book in my hands — the shushing sound as I turn the pages — the satisfaction of flipping to the last chapter and being able to close the book with a satisfied sigh on a story well read.

The only problem is that my reading list here (and piles of novels at home) keeps on growing. Surrounding myself with books is like wearing clothes — I feel naked if I don’t have them around. I’m not a collector of anything else, except now I’ve added Medium articles to the equation. So the question is…

Does anyone else have a Medium addiction? Have my priorities changed at 32? 😰

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance holds equal significance to securing a desirable job, earning a substantial salary, and occupying a prominent position in a leading multinational corporation.

It transcends mere financial considerations; as one progresses in life, especially when married with a small family and a child, priorities inevitably shift.

For me, this transformation has brought about a change in what I hold most dear. I now prioritize three key aspects in life:

1. Quality Time with Family:

When I speak of quality time, it extends beyond traditional outings, sports, or dining experiences. Simply being at home and engaging in activities like board games, indoor football, or playful interactions with my son holds immense value.

Similarly, with my wife, meaningful conversations and shared laughter become cherished moments.

2. Pursuing Personal Passions:

With financial stability and a favourable position in life, I now have the liberty to explore the passions and dreams I harboured as a child.

Whether it’s indulging in a sophisticated remote-controlled car, acquiring a PS5, or joining a tennis club to play the sport I love, I have the luxury to pursue these interests.

I’d written a detailed article on the same please do read this if you have some time:

3. Engaging in Side Hustles:

Venturing into side hustles that resonate with my interests is another priority. While financial gains are welcomed, the primary focus is not solely on monetary returns.

These side hustles encompass activities like mentoring, career coaching, and writing articles on platforms like Medium. Additionally, I delve into diverse investments such as cryptocurrencies, ETFs, stocks, and bonds — acknowledging the inherent risks and emphasizing the need for thorough due diligence.

This not only provides an avenue for potential earnings but also deepens my understanding of the investment landscape, aiding in prudent retirement planning.
