Have I Told You How Much I Love You?
Poem to separated children in detention centers. English/Spanish
As you read these words imagine someone reading them to you:
I love you with all your feelings that go down — make you frown, that go up — through the ceiling!
I love you with your thoughts that hurt and bite, and with your thoughts that soar like a kite.
Chorus: I love you from toes to belly, head, above, I love you because you are made of Love.
I love you with body with parts “too big”, “too small”, I love you with height “too short, “too tall”.
I love you with body that smells and snorts, I love when you dance, when you play sports.
Chorus: I love you from toes to belly, head, above, I love you because you are made of Love.
I love you with tears, fears, mad with frustration, love you when you’re lonely, or sing with elation.
Beyond your face, your thoughts, your feelings, I’ll always Love You, from here to Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Darjeeling. (Name the country you are from!)

While clouds pour rain, sea waves rise, I love you with all I see in your eyes.
The puddles may splash, the earth may quake, I love you when you think you‘ve made a mistake.

Even though it is so hard being apart, I want you to know how much I love you in my heart.
