Summary

The article discusses the evolution of fast food, questioning whether it has become healthier over time and asserting that fast food is inherently unhealthy and incompatible with a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

The author reflects on the changing role of fast food in society, from a rare treat in childhood to a convenience for busy adults. Despite some perceptions that fast food may have improved nutritionally, the article argues that this is not the case, emphasizing that even salads and diet sodas from fast food chains do not constitute healthy meals. Citing an article by Robert Roy Britt, the author notes that portion sizes and calorie counts have increased over the years, leading to less healthy food options. The author, who has personally abstained from fast food since 2006, challenges readers to consider the impact of fast food on their health, especially for those with existing health conditions or on medication, and advocates for eliminating fast food from one's diet to achieve a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Has Fast Food Changed For The Better?

Think about it. Has fast food really gotten better since we were kids? Is that burger, fries, and shake any more healthy than it once was?

I know I’ll get blasted for writing about “fast food”, but I really don’t care because…..well….this is my article and I’ll write whatever I want!

Remember when we were kids? Going to a fast food place was a treat! At least in my house, it was very seldom we got to go to a fast food place, and when we did, WOW! Talk about feeling great!

Then, when we got our driver license, it wasn’t so much a treat, but a pit stop after a night of drinking, yes?

Then, when we developed a family, going to a fast food place was a convenience, because after all, it was on the way home.

Now, we go because we have programmed ourselves that it’s “cheaper” and “quicker” to go to the drive through and get that burger and shake.

Sure, it’s delicious and, once again, convenient, so why not, right?

BUT, we soon forget about our health. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, there is NO SUCH THING as a “healthy meal” at a fast food restaurant. A salad and diet soda IS NOT A HEALTHY meal!

I’m not a nutritionist, but come on folks, use some common sense here. ESPECIALLY if you already have some sort of health issue. And by health issue, I’m saying if you take any sort of doctor prescribed medication, fast food is the LAST thing you need to get well!

I read an article by Robert Roy Britt who throws out some numbers of how fast food has changed throughout the years. You can read it here:

But, I can preach to the cows come home and you still won’t listen. Hey, if you’re reading this, I’ve told you and you now cannot say you didn’t know and no one told you, ok?

I will also put my money where my mouth is. I have not eaten any fast food since December 31st, 2006! I used to say I haven’t stepped foot into a fast food place since then, but I cannot because I had a business meeting at one and all I ordered was a cup of coffee. (I wasn’t the one who set the meeting, so don’t blame me!)

So, let me ask you, what has changed since we were young? Fast food is still there and for all intense and purposes, it’s still the same as it always was. BUT, we are now adults and WE HAVE CHANGED!

Bottom line, if you want to get healthy and live a fit and healthy lifestyle, then fast food cannot be part of the equation….PERIOD!

Sorry if I just pissed you off, but oh well!
