Drabble Word Prompt 84: Wet

Diane woke to see that the sun was already high in the sky. The alarm clock is missing.

She dressed and went down to find her three kids hard at work in the kitchen. Johnny was drying the wet floor. Sophie was standing over a smoking griddle, while Ben was trying to put a stack of plates in the lower shelves as a pair slipped and broke with a loud crash.

“Hey, mum! Happy Mother’s Day.” They chorused.

“Breakfast’s almost ready,” Sophie announced.

“Come here all of you.”

She swiped tears away and then enfolded them in a big hug.
