The sun peeks through the forest.

It was an incredibly cold morning in Transylvania. The air was crisp, and the fog was hanging low in town.

I had planned on visiting the cave first and then the castle since I thought the fog won’t bother us when inside a mountain. But as we were hiking up the 500 meters to reach the entrance of the cave, there was no more fog.

The sun was smiling at me.

Fall’s forest was light, with not many leaves left on the trees. The barren branches made just enough space for the first sunrays of the day to shine through on the forest trail. I could feel the warmth on my cheeks.

I had to smile back.
