PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Happiness is an Inside Job
Week 103 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
This week is about all those things that make me happy. Sunflowers, the setting sun, office views, and hammock life. Yes, we’re in high season but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun all along.
Combing more than one passion of mine for work keeps me smiling throughout the day. Teaching, taking photographs, and jumping out of a plane could be three different activities but I bring them all together.
The photograph above I took while I was booked to film a tandem passenger’s skydive. As I was filming him walking to the plane, I went down on my knees to get that yellow shining wildflower in the shot. In the background, another skydiver was just about to land.
This is what my life is about. A lot of things. All combined in one moment.
This bush with the bright colored flowers is blooming just next to our trailer. And while I admire the beauty of it every day, this time the fallen leaves attracted my attention.
Like a red carpet in nature.
The fallen blossoms on the walkway stretched across like a carpet.

We were sitting out in front of the hangar after a long day at work when one of the office girls pointed out the rainbow at the horizon. It was a very faint one but bright enough to notice.
Together with the last light of the day — the moment was just perfect.
I was just too lazy to walk the 100 meters to our trailer and fetch my camera. Instead, I took my husband’s iPhone which was in hand and snapped a quick picture. It doesn’t do justice to the beauty of the moment, but it was enough for me.
The rainbow even got brighter after some time. I decided to just soak in the moment instead of trying to get that perfect shot. It’s not (always) worth it. Experience and live the moment instead.

Saturday was really busy, and I didn’t take any photographs outside of work. But I had plenty of footage to go through and find something suitable for this challenge.
However, I kept on stumbling over the same images over and over.
The intro shot. They all have similarities, but they’re all kind of different too.
Don’t miss our manager zooming past on an E-Scooter. His favorite mode of transport whenever he’s not under a parachute.

And then of course. My office view. From the window seat.
To sit by the window. I get paid to sit here.
All. Day. Long.
Greetings from above the clouds.

Sunday, the last day of our working week.
After a long day at work, I was given this sunflower by one of my students, who ended up landing in the sunflower field. She misjudged the wind, and I saw her parachute softly touching down above the yellow shining beauties.
Not a big deal to me. As long as they bring me a souvenir back from the field.
Here it is. Next to a pair of sunglasses and the beautiful plane blurred out in the background.

Monday. My off day.
Another hot day in Germany but also another day of relaxing in my happy place.
The hammock by the lake.

Tuesday, my new working week had started, and I finished the day with a sunflower shoot in the setting sun.
Gorgeous landscape I live in, isn’t it?

Whenever I see this wildflower, I have to think of my grandma. The succory is her favorite flower. She only blooms in the morning and closes her petals already long before lunchtime.
We have a field of wildflowers on the property at work where we walk past on our way to board the plane. Seeing the succory, I always tell myself I need to take a photograph with my camera of the pretty blue flower but forget about it until late in the afternoon when the blossoms are closed again.
Today I took out my camera and captured the beauty before work.
Isn’t she a shining glory among all those other wildflowers?

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett started this photography challenge in 2020 and many have participated ever since.
