Sunset Colors and Lots of Wildflowers

Week 101 of the photographic documentary of my daily life

It was my own fault. Saying yes to doing a student training course on Monday, my only off day of the week. And here I am on day 8 of not having a single day off work. 6 more days to go.

Sometimes we take wrong decisions. Sometimes we regret our decisions. Sometimes we just overestimate ourselves. And sometimes, all we need is a break.

I’m at that point right now.

I’ve had a hard weekend. Working from the morning until the evening. I just worked this Monday through doing a student course from 9 am until 6 pm and I’m exhausted. My next day off in sight is next week Monday.

Somewhere out of reach.

Let’s start as usual reporting from Thursday on. It was raining. Finally. It was way too hot for too long and the country was incredibly dry.

It rained for the most part of the day and I couldn’t do more but share the blessing. Water drops falling from the sky. We had the windows open to get some of the fresh air into our home. The trailer.

Friday.

Greetings from work. From above the clouds. This is the view from my office.

How do you like the fluffy clouds?

On Saturday we were fighting with lots of clouds, rain, and wind and managed to jump from a plane in between the weather chaos.

That evening I captured the sky with the colored clouds while the moon was up already.

I love our landing area because it is covered in wildflowers.

Sunday was another busy day at work and no I did not take any pictures except the ones for work.

When filming a tandem skydive as an external video flyer I don’t just film the freefall but start documenting the story of getting dressed and briefed on the ground, walking to the plane, and eventually jumping out.

In order to switch things up, I often try to shoot from different angles. In this case, I was capturing the tandem instructor walking out of the gear room together with the passenger while I was sitting on the ground hiding behind some wildflowers.

Yes, we do have lots of wildflowers on site. And I love it.

Yes, Monday was supposed to be my off day but as I mentioned, I agreed on doing the student course teaching newbies how to skydive.

One day full of teaching.

I was tired and exhausted after a full week at work and definitely regretted my decision of saying yes to my boss.

At the end of the day, I quickly walked to the field filled with wildflowers to capture this photograph in the sunset.

Tuesday I finished the student training course and brought the guys and girls up into the sky. For their first-ever solo skydive. More stress and excitement at the same time.

It was late when I finished work. After I got out of the shower I saw the moon standing just above the horizon. The moon was bright. Shining above the trailer park.

Summer holidays are in full swing in Germany and therefore more and more people come to skydive on weekdays as well. It’s our busy season so it’s what we live for.

Working all day long for a beautiful sunset in the trailer park. The sun is setting late these days but the clouds were in a perfect spot for the festival of colors.
