Guns Are the Star of Mass Shootings

How many must die from gun violence before Congress passes laws?

Wow!! I am flabbergasted and appalled that Congress has not stepped up to the plate to be a part of the solution taking guns off the streets and out of the hands of deranged individuals who has no regard for their life or another’s life.

In the last few weeks, there have been so many mass shootings at stores, schools, malls, churches, and medical offices throughout the country. What does it take to see the handwriting on the wall as all the politicians sit in their little offices tucked away from the reality of gun violence while twiddling their thumbs?

Again the same headlines over and over again pertaining to mass shootings and gun violence happening repeatedly in public places. No states are immune from gun violence because guns are everywhere and are repeatedly found in the wrong hands.

Near a Chattanooga, Tennesse nightclub, 2 people were shot, 1 died fleeing and was hit by a vehicle, 3 others were struck by a vehicle while fleeing, and 14 were injured. All this mayhem was contributed to gun violence. The sixteen victims were adults and one juvenile.

Until new gun laws are passed, these mass shootings will continue. Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, an independent, has called on Congress to get their act together and pass or enact “common-sense regulations” to address gun violence. Kelly like the rest of the responsible community wants to see mandatory background checks and prohibit high-capacity magazines, aka AR-15. Chattanooga, New York officials are moving forward taking steps that are aimed at reducing gun violence in their cities. Two states are taking matters into their own hands. What are the other states doing? Can that many states be in denial that guns kill people? LOL, the United States! Together we stand, divided we fall!

According to the media, there were multiple shooters but thus far there has been very little information coming forth from the community about the entire shooting incident outside of this Chattanooga nightclub. What caused it or who was involved?

The magnitude of gun violence can be readily seen, locally and nationally. So many copycats and angry gun touting men going all-around shooting people for one reason or another or no reason.

So many cities have had more than one incident of gun violence. Imagine the many shootings that have not reached the media, yet. A weekend prior to the gunfire outside of the Chattanooga nightclub, there was gunfire in the downtown Chattanooga business district where six juveniles were wounded.

Most of the shooters are young males between 18 and early twenties. While at this age, they should be focusing on moving on to the next phase in their lives and becoming productive citizens, instead of buying guns to kill innocent people.

Since these men are irresponsible, then it is up to Congress to do the responsible things to restrict guns from getting into the hands of people who clearly should not have a gun, body armor, and certainly not high capacity magazines gun.

In conclusion, how does Congress sleep at night knowing they could have passed gun laws and saved so many innocent lives over the 200 plus mass shootings across the country? Saving an innocent life should not have a price tag attached to it.

The NRA has the power to change all this gun violence and mass shootings throughout the nation, instead, they offer their thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. The NRA, a conscienceless organization, continues business as usual. May God help their weary souls. It is said in life, that “everything comes with a price tag.” NRA needs to do the right and ethical thing before it is too late for them and the rest of the nation. God bless America!
