Grow Your Biceps By Training Your Legs!

It may seem counterintuitive, but it really works!

Never skip leg day!

Most men hit the gym to work on their upper body. The goal is usually to build the chest, shoulders, back, and arms. Therefore, the legs are often neglected.

However, many fitness gurus swear by leg training. There are good reasons for this, as a study from Norway shows.

A Study Shows The Effects Of Leg Training On The Growth Of Arm Muscles

The participants in the study were male, between 20 and 34 years old, and had never done weight training before. During the study, they trained in the gym 4 times a week for 11 weeks.

Twice a week, they trained only their left biceps with these three exercises: biceps curls, hammer curls, and reverse curls, and selected for each exercise a weight with which they managed a maximum of 10 repetitions.

During the other two training sessions, the participants first trained their legs. They did leg presses, leg extensions, and leg curls.

Afterward, they trained their right biceps with the same program as their left biceps.

The Results

The results are amazing and a strong incentive for regular leg training in my opinion:

When the researchers studied the men’s biceps at the end of the 11 weeks, they saw that the L+A biceps that had been trained after the leg training were all significantly bigger than the A-biceps that had been trained separately from the leg training. What’s more, the L+A biceps were stronger than the A-biceps.

How Can This Phenomenon Be Explained?

Why did the biceps that were trained after the leg training grow more and become stronger in all participants, even though exactly the same training was performed with the other biceps?

Hormones are the answer. Leg training increases testosterone and growth hormone production, which is why training other muscles during the same session become more effective.

This article explains this in more detail.
