Google’s 25th Birthday: A Walk Down Memory Lane
Celebrating a Quarter-Century of Innovation and Accessibility
Today is a special day because Google is celebrating its 25th birthday. Although Google was officially created on September 4, the company has chosen September 27 as its birthday for the past ten years. To mark this occasion, Google is taking a stroll down memory lane by sharing different doodles it has used in the past. The Google Doodle for today is a moving picture that changes the word ‘Google’ into ‘G25gle’
Google tells us that even though they’re always thinking about the future, birthdays are also a time to look back and reflect. They are acknowledging their journey of 25 years, starting with the launch of Google Search from a garage in California. Nowadays, Google has offices and data centers in more than 200 cities across six continents.
Two students named Sergey Brin and Larry Page founded Google. They were studying for their doctorates and shared a dream of making the Internet easier to use. They began working on a better search engine while living in their university dorms. As they progressed, they moved their operation to a garage they rented. On September 27, 1998, Google Inc. officially came into existence.
Despite many changes over the years, Google’s main goal has stayed the same: to arrange all the information worldwide and make it easy for everyone to access and use. Google is grateful to its users for growing and evolving with them during the past 25 years. They’re excited to see where the future will take them.
This is a significant milestone, reminding us how a simple idea in a dorm room became one of the world’s most important technology companies.
