Go with the Flow

Another Fibonacci-style tale about cat and mouse tails

Photo by Marco Biondi on Unsplash

It was my plan to unwind get into the zone to find my flow and write something — I had eagerly anticipated it all day

I was alone with my thoughts relaxing after enjoying a walk at the park; sadly the quiet atmosphere didn’t last for long

Oh dear here we go again I heard crunching sounds coming from the corner bookshelf and not my imagination, the cat heard it, too

The cat went from low profile to action figure with impressive alacrity her eyes wide with curiosity, senses engaged

And so there was a flurry of activity in quick succession as she went room-to-room in search of the latest perpetrator

From the kitchen down the stairs into the basement immediately back upstairs as a streak of gray ran through into the living room

It went under the sofa, to my annoyance but not really to my surprise; strategically it was a good place to hide out

And now it’s a waiting game a battle of wills an unexpected changes of plans but around here we have learned to go with the flow

This is now the third poem inspired by a troubling, yet unfortunately entertaining, recurrence at my house: Catch & Release, Victory Lap
