Go Back to Your Future
You can change your future if you’re willing to go Pro in life

Going back to my future.
When I was 18, I was determined to discover and share information that would make an impact and change lives.
Like my father and grandfather, I would be a journalist and I was.
When I was 33, I became a content creator (and part-time weather bunny for a while) to support my family and because I could succeed at it.
I had realized the news business was going to hell (I had no idea how bad it would become). It was no longer the place for me.
Now, in my 60s I am once again determined to discover and share information that will make an impact and change lives.
I have come full circle to what I wanted when I was 18.
This time instead of TV news it’s my own thing, New Way Forward.
Yes, I have been working on this for a few years now, but only part-time.
Recently I began cutting ties with my content creation clients to put my full attention on NWF.
Call it returning to my roots.
Going back to my future.
Better yet, I am heeding Mr. Shakespeare’s advice: “To thy own self be true”.
I realized after all these years in life I had it right the first time. Just maybe not the application (although I had some great years in TV that I loved).
Being a content creator aligned with my skills and talents but not my true self.
Now I am taking advantage of being “older” with all the life knowledge and experience to reconnect and then reimagine the way and application of what I knew when I was 18.
I wonder how many of us need to get back to what our fundamental intentions and desires in life were.
We often refer to these as fanciful youthful ideas and dreams in a dismissive way.
Perhaps they are truer to our true selves than we give them credit for. Maybe not in the specific manifestation of them, but in their essence.
Life, the world, and existential influences can knock us off our path and cause a detour, but that doesn’t mean we have to forsake the direction and purpose we truly desire.
It’s another reality for many
On the other hand, there are many for whom those youthful ideas were pursued, only to discover later in life that they either were no longer desired or weren’t ideal, to begin with.
There are others that have never really figured out what they really want.
Fear not! These realizations can knock us onto a path toward our true needs and desires. A new way forward that’s ideal for you and only you.
Becoming older is THE PERFECT TIME to reevaluate, reimagine, and redefine what we need and want.
It may be a tweak. It may be a transition. It may be a major transformation.
Time to go pro with your life
In our youth, we learn.
We enter adulthood and it’s an apprenticeship of life.
When we get “older” it’s time to go pro.
It’s time to heed Mr. Shakespeare’s advice: To thy own self be true”.

When we get older (whatever age that is…40 to 80 let’s say) there comes a time out of need, crisis, or self-awareness when many of us wonder “what the hell am I doing?”.
Or the most asked question of all, “Now what?”
It is the question that must be answered.
It is the question you want to answer.
Because hopefully you, like me right now, will discover the new way forward that is the most meaningful of all.
You get off the Yellow Brick Road that’s not right for you and onto the one that takes you where you need and want to go.
After learning about my big transition last night, a dear friend sent me a perfect quote from Jennifer Louden in support of my move.
“It’s not what you do; it’s why you do it that makes the difference.”
For me, I am going back to my future.
We can think of our lives as being a movie franchise with never-ending sequels.
You’re the writer, producer, director, and star of your life franchise.
It’s time for a new blockbuster sequel.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with and what the happy ending will be.
