Will Smith Bitch Slapped Chris Rock Should We Be Outraged?

Chris Rock got a slapping. Will Smith got an Oscar.

Wallop a smarting slap to the cheek. Chris Rock was now laughing on the other side of his face.

The slap was delivered forcefully by Will Smith. Will lost his temper because of a remark Chris made. He got up from his seat in the audience, marched up onto the stage, slapped Chris, walked off, and had a little verbal outburst to finish off.

It was an impressive bitch slap if ever I saw one.

I gotta admire the self-restraint exhibited by Will Smith for only slapping once. Because anyone who has ever delivered a slap to another human being will know how hard it is to stop yourself from hitting out in anger or because you enjoy it.

Some of you are going to be saying, “Oh, that’s not me!” I have never hit anyone.

But is that true?

Ever watched tiny tots at play? Sooner or later there is an outburst, slaps and kicks and screams will erupt because someone has their toy, or they are looking at them or they said something they don’t like. It’s normal.

Even if you still say you never ever slapped anyone you are sure to have lost your temper and shouted at someone at some stage.

The point is when you see red it’s really hard to maintain control. On the one hand, we are asked to believe Will Smith was so angry over the remarks made about his wife’s hair that he was forced to take action. On the other hand, it would appear that he was only angry enough to deliver one slap.

Seriously, WTF?

To be honest, when I first saw the clip I didn’t even get the joke because the camera wasn’t focused on Will’s wife. It was only in later clips that I saw his wife. Yes, she had really short hair. I mean it was shaved. But is it wrong to reference it to GI Jane?

I didn’t know the full situation. Nothing much was mentioned about that. For all, I knew she could’ve just liked having a shaved head. Turns out she has a medical condition-Alopecia. This means her immune system attacks the hair follicles causing it to fall out. So Yeah, you could say the joke was in bad taste.

At the end of the day did it merit a public slapping? Obviously not, otherwise, Will wouldn’t have been crying when he picked up his Oscar.

But who’s in the wrong here? Chris for making the very insensitive joke or Will for giving him a slap?

Don’t hate me for saying this but I am not completely against violence. There are situations when you may need to use violence to protect yourself or your loved ones. I don’t believe that this was such an occasion but on the other hand, it has certainly brought a few more things out into the open.

So what did all of this achieve? Well, the Oscars got more publicity. Will Smith has succeeded in confusing and dividing us and Chris Rock has our sympathy for being publicly humiliated but at the same time, he has angered many because of his cruel joke.

So dear readers it would appear that there is no clear winner but it does seem that there is truly no such thing as bad publicity where Hollywood is concerned.
