Ginni and Clarence: The Lame Duck Bonnie and Clyde

“The intimate bond has been a dynamic in which two people, as halves, together formed a creative whole.” — Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh
Clarence and Virginia Thomas are perhaps as much of a creative whole as was Clark and Vivien. One could consider any dyadic relationship as a creative force. It is through the dyadic relationship that we survive as a species and that same creative energy can be seen as creating both wonderful and terrible reality throughout history. From Bonnie and Clyde to Franklin and Eleanor to Barack and Michelle to John and Jackie to Bill and Hillary and now to Clarence and Ginni.
A dyad creates what other people see as real around them. It’s the reality in which the dyad lives. There are houses and careers and all manner of accomplishments. But then we have to consider that failures are also accomplishments. Failures require just as much — if not more — energy than a notable accomplishment. It appears the only requirement for creation is intensity of relationship and focus on what is to be accomplished.
This is not to say that what Clarence and Ginni want to accomplish is wrong. Conservative types of folks tend to consider social order as inevitable and even desirable. Often right wing types consider their position to be based on natural law or authority or even tradition. In many ways this stance is admirable and necessary. However, there is nothing natural nor desirable nor even within the range of social order to advocate for the overthrow of an election. Besides, I know of no social order which requires a Supreme Court Justice to attempt to hide his wife’s questionable activity by subverting the law.
I do admire the couple for their unyielding adherence to what they believe to be true, but part of that stated belief is to support the constitution of the United States. It is by that very constitution that the Thomas’s even have the wherewithal to live where they live and enjoy the privileges they enjoy.
The part of all of this that is most difficult to understand is that the guy they are trying to keep in office is decidedly not conservative. Fascism is not related to conservatism. The guy Clarence and Ginni were trying to keep in office is in Agreement with Vlad to kill non combatant civilians. Now don’t misunderstand here. I do not think that Clarence and Ginni sat down and talked to each other and came up with the brilliant plan to keep The XLV in office, so that Mexico and Canada could be invaded and made a part of the United States. But if a part of the constitution can be ignored then what part can not be ignored?
There is an old saying that goes something like, “There is no vice nor virtue too small to ignore”.
For this old saying I have to pause and consider that The XLV flat out lied to the American electorate about his involvement with Russia. While he was denying any involvement, Michael Cohen was in Russia trying to put a deal together to build a Trump Tower. That means that The XLV lied repeatedly about his involvement with Russia. Would that same man have lied about his relationship with the Russian President? How would I know? How would Clarence and Ginni know? Or did they know? I doubt that they knew that, but they support the guy who lied. How is that a conservative value?
Wasn’t it the esteemed Mrs. Thomas who told Mark Meadows that the Biden crime family should be sent to barges off Gitmo? Maybe it’s just me but that seems to be pretty radical. I don’t know what the right wing crowd has against old man Scranton, but so far he’s doing a pretty good job of keeping the world together in one piece. Yes, he is asking for patriotic American oil companies to do their share of supporting the sanctions against Russian aggression, I think that’s fair. I mean they profit from the capitalist system to which they owe their existence, don’t they?
I think this is the problem The XLV and Co. have with old Joe. I think he just demonstrates too much old fashioned horse sense for that bunch. I mean Daren the XLV has not ever demonstrated common sense. Might I remind you of his sharpie weather report or his disinfectant cure for Covid? How about Ivermectin? That quackery has been reported to have had no beneficial effect for Covid at all. Who would want to have a Dear Leader with that kind of idiocy on his resume? Who would want a stock boy with that kind of idiocy on his resume?
Does anyone think that Warren Buffet, Bill Gates or Ray Dalio would hire the ex-star of The Apprentice to run a division of their companies or manage their stock portfolios? Does anyone think that they would endorse that guy for president? Of course not, but here we have Clarence and Ginni pushing to keep Daren the XLV in office. Damn the Constitution, full speed ahead.
It isn’t just Ginni and Clarence either. I mean you’ve got Kevin, (if anyone was ever aptly named) kissing that guy’s ring or something and Marge trying to trade her blue hair for political gain. We even have that girl from Colorado with the cowboy fantasies. Sometimes I think she was exposed to too much Dale Evans as a child. She ain’t that old, but damn! All of these folks and more to boot are all trying to make a name for themselves by being battier than the next one and all because the American public once had a brain fart and elected a reality tv star as a president. And not a lick of common sense between the lot of them.
Now here’s the question of the Millennium. Who really believes that pile of craziness is going to fare well in the midterm elections? Let’s do the math, ya wanna? We all know that the Democrats are going to back whoever runs on their ticket as long as that person isn’t pushing flat earth theory or something equally nutzo. But here’s where I think folks are just not understanding their arithmetics. Conservative or right wing folks are defined as, “supporting the view that certain social orders and hierarchies are inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable.” There’s no doubt that a good portion of the folks who vote the right wing ticket will look for a QAnon fruit cake or a Trucker Carlson who agrees with authoritarian philosophies, but there is a huge number of conservatives who have common sense and will vote accordingly. I don’t think the country can afford a pandemic, a war and Republican fear mongers all at the same time. These are the folks who claimed that Covid was a Liberal trick to control the masses and that it was a good thing for Daren the XLV to cozy up to the guy who is bombing apartments and hospitals in Ukraine. So forgive me if I don’t buy into the “radical left” ideology. Not when I see the only radicals in sight are right wing QAnoners and other folks screaming about cocaine infested orgies going on in Washington. Makes me think that what you hear people complain about is really what they wish they had the chutzpah to do themselves. Maybe they should. They might loosen up a bit.
