Getting Mentors’ Advice for Free has Never Been Easier.
A Seeker’s Journey to a New Life
Self-care goes a long way in managing stress and living your best life. Being as kind to yourself as you would be to other people goes a long way in terms of your overall wellbeing.
When people beat themselves up and battle with the sense of self-judgment, of not being good enough, being kind to oneself doesn’t come easy. So, it’s safe to say that we all can use a little more help, inspiration, and motivation now and then.
Getting the Inspiration You Need
Inspiration is a motivational state of mind that compels individuals to bring new constructive ideas to fruition. But bringing ideas to fruition is our part of work.
With the right kind of support and inspiration, anyone can do it.
You know when you get proper kind of support and inspiration when you take small steps to begin solving problems, let go of unattainable goals and develop multiple sources of self-esteem.
It was a period of my life when I needed something to distract me from life’s struggles and setbacks. A moment when I needed to find my authentic self.
I was looking for something or someone to help me take small steps to solve problems, find a positive voice inside me, come with my feet on the ground, and accept my reality as it was while building stronger self-esteem.
Identifying the Right Mentor for You
I was looking for a mentor with whom I could associate myself with. The one that could give me guidance and inspiration. I am talking about the inspiration which makes you want to do something different.
But even though having a mentor is the hot new trend, a formal mentoring relationship is not easy to find.
I’ve started searching for answers, reading, attending events, looking for information online. I was looking for stories meant to touch my heart and nurture my spirit.
I needed to find the one mentor that would see ahead of me. Finally, I found him. I’ve found what John Crosby called
A Brain to Pick, an Ear to Listen, and a Push in the Right Direction.
I didn’t have to look too far to find good mentors. It turns that finding mentors and getting their advice for free has never been easier.
After all, reading is all about learning from the most successful people throughout history without even knowing them personally.
Ok, it isn’t the same as having a face-to-face conversation with someone but it may be as valuable.
I was lucky to find a mentor that helped me cultivating positivity.
I practice Self-Mentoring with Les Brown and it’s for Free
Self-mentoring is a practice of leadership development that applies mentoring strategies; you must be willing to initiate and accept responsibility for self-development by devoting time to reflect on yourself, to learn, and strengthen your competencies. It is not a replacement for mentoring practice but can complement such approaches
I found Les Brown. He is the apple of my eye for quite a long time. He thinks that our goal in life should be to live the best version of ourselves.
Reading and listening to him immensely changed my life. He inspired me to chase dreams that I’ve laid dormant on. I have to admit, I’ve come a long way, done some remarkable life transformation some change. And he has been a big influence on me.
Sometimes the inspiration you need to achieve your dreams can be found in a few simple words of wisdom and a small burst of inspiration can make a huge difference.
Since then, he’s been one of my biggest inspirations and I turn to him whenever I need somebody to lift me up.
Les Brown says that his mission is to get a message out that will help people become uncomfortable with their mediocrity. Maybe people that raised already above mediocrity are not his audience.
I was.
I found the right mentor for me at the right moment, when I was ready to settle for what was socially acceptable, not realizing that mediocrity was ready to swallow me.
Empowering people to have a larger vision for their lives through his motivational speeches is unique. Even if the world is full now with motivational speakers and inspirational gurus, he’s one of a kind.
I found myself in the right place at the right moment.
Even if I was down in the dumps, my self-awareness expanded due to this incredible infusion of inspiration. His charisma, warmth, and sense of humor have the power to inspire me, as well as millions of others across the world.
Les Brown’s words triggered bigger a-ha moments for me than the ones I was about to have in my transformation journey later on.
My mentor was able to relate to my needs or I was ready to relate to his advice. Either way, magic happened. I would listen and read his words for hours and hours. I would lie in bed each night, listening to his words exclusively for days, weeks, even months.
Remodeling your Self requires a Call to Action.
I was lucky because my search and my need for inspiration was the perfect trigger context for awakening to take place. As Roxana Jones said:
“We are ready to awaken when we don’t have any more doubts or any more questions about who we are.”
Sometimes we feel inspired, yet lose it before achieving anything meaningful. Our problems are solved for the moment, but our life is the same, full of self-judgment.
Losing momentum happens because the key to motivation is to not just keep motivation inside your head but actually to translate it into behavior.
Then, one day I’ve decided I was ready to act. I was most responsive to change.
Choosing deliberately to practicing change, by shifting away from blanket solutions toward deliberate problem-solving requires intense but worthy effort.
All your ambitions, dreams, and beliefs are stripped away and replaced with a clear vision of your larger purpose.
When something moves and inspires you, the real you comes out, the one that knows your real purpose in life.
I had no sponsorship or networking from my virtual mentor, only role modeling and words of wisdom. It was enough as a starting point.
Discovering a Higher Meaning
Even when you feel happier and motivated, we realize that there are times in life when you won’t feel very inspired. Maybe life is not only about ourselves.
But this inspiration went beyond my expectation and give me also insights on how to inspire others. So, this inspiration went beyond my expectation and give me also a response to higher life’s purpose.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
Ultimately, motivated, productive, and fulfilled people typically work beyond their self-interest and towards a higher purpose.
