Get Up at 7.00 AM… Prepare For Work…
One-hour commute. Maybe even three.
Say hi to some coworkers. Settle into your desk.
Sort out emails before the next meeting that’s going to happen before that other meeting…
Some water cooler talk. A rushed lunch break.
Get back to work. Push yourself until 7 PM. Maybe until 9 PM.
You need to pay rent… Save money for expensive education for children…
So that they can have a chance of earning the right to apply for a soul-sucking job like the one you are doing right now.
Your retirement isn't even on the horizon…
Rinse and repeat every day. You don’t know how long you can keep this up.
But you must keep up.
This is your life…
It Doesn’t Have to Be
Life shouldn't be an uninterrupted spurt of backbreaking, soul-crushing work that you need to do to get by.
Life is happening here and now.
Every second is important. Now, is as important as the future. The future is as important as this moment.
There is no need to stick to the old ways, the old society, and its old norms.
Anything that gives you a better life, lights up your fire, and gives you hope for the future is better than what you have now.
You don’t have to wear a suit or dress and report yourself to a suffocating work atmosphere in order to toil away so that a minority maximizes their profits off of your work.
You can leave this old society behind.
A society in which people work away their lives for others’ profits while getting paid cents.
A society that justifies its existence by making people believe that this is how things should be.
A society that validates your choices and your existence only if you obey it, let yourself get exploited by it.
Break Out of the Old Society
Break out of the old society. Break out of its old norms. Discard the suit or the dress. Leave behind the ‘corporate citizen’ mentality. Stop worrying about the ever-changing opinions of the society.
Break out of the cycle of exploitation — all you need to do is to find a way to make a living without getting your soul sucked out of your body.
The old society won’t give you that. But the emerging new one, can.
Freelancing, writing, starting your own business, investing in crypto, joining DAOs, cooperatives — whatever you can make work, whatever gets you energized, whatever fills your soul…
A new society in which people take control of the economy is forming. A society in which people work together. In an economy in which they call the shots.
A society in which people can manage their own work, get paid more, and have their loved ones with them while working remotely. Which is even more important now that the pandemic has shown us how badly we had our priorities…
You can take your place in this new society.
You can even start making a living by doing what you always wanted to do.
Just discard the old society and take a step towards the new one that’s welcoming you…
