Get More Work Done In Less Time With These 5 Lessons
Work Smarter not Harder with these lessons

Imagine a life where you work four hours a week, yet achieve more than you ever thought possible. In this blog, I’m telling you the 5 mind-blowing lessons I learned from ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ that completely transformed me on working for lots of hours. If you are interested in only working 4 hours per week, then read this blog.
The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss is about how to get to the new rich people. Which not have millions of dollars but have enough money to do what they want. He explains how you can reduce your working time to 4 hours per week and do what you want. I would say not everyone can reduce it to 4 hours but at least something like 10 hours.
Before we start, I would say the book is great. Especially to have at the end of chapters practical action steps. That you should do, like asking strangers for their phone numbers. I would say the book helped me not so much because I am not yet working, but I still learned a lot. So I will tell you 5 lessons that I learned from 4 work weeks.
Lesson 1: Parkinson’s Law and the 80/20 Principle
The Parkinson‘s Law a simple and popular law. It is very good for reducing time. So it always works that you put in 20 percent effort and get 80 percent output. Like taking the 20% biggest customers and getting 80% of the income.
There are a lot of ways to put in place this principle, try to think how I can get the highest output with small input.
For YouTube, I try to get 20% editing and 80% output. Or with reading the 20% most important books, getting 80% of the best information. Some books also repeat after time.
Implement next time the Parkinson's law and see if it works for you.
Lesson 2: Don’t Let Yourself Be Interrupted — Learn to Say No A. Emphasize the importance of avoiding distractions
To have more time I switch my default answer from yes to no. I generally avoid people disturbing me while working on something. So I stay concentrated. I learned that if I have a new idea while doing something then try the idea directly. My concentration is less than before.
You need to understand that if you say yes to one activity you say no to everything else.
If someone asks me if I want to do something . I think what would be on my calendar at the time and if I want to do the new activity now and the calendar planned later.
Next time someone asks you for something. Switch your default to no and think what you could do instead in this time.
Lesson 3: Stop Reading News
Tim Ferries mentions in the book that he doesn’t read or watch the news. He says if something important happens other people will talk about it to him.
So don’t spend too much time watching the news around the world. The news is also most of the time bad and dramatic.
So I watch 100 seconds of news. Besides that, I hear a 5-minute podcast that says the main politics, economy, and financial stuff. This takes in total of less than 10 minutes every day.
You should not spend too much time reading and watching the news.
Lesson 4: Read Emails Only Weekly A. Discuss the concept of email batching and its benefits
He says that you should reduce emails to a small amount. Make some auto replies for emails that people know you only read in a specific time. I also did a video about how I manage my emails which I link you in the cards. I have a personal email and an email for my side hustle that I check once a day. Furthermore, I also have an email for newsletters that I check every Sunday.
This saves me time if I look at fixed times in my emails and don’t answer instant if someone’s writing to me.
Make a fixed plan for how often you check your emails, and don’t answer instant an email if it’s not so important.
Lesson 5: Hire an Assistant for Simple Tasks
He says that he outsourced simple tasks to a company. India that offers assistance for 10 dollars per hour, so very cheap.
After a specific earning amount, it makes sense to outsource tasks that take very long. The result is that you have more time for more important tasks than you like.
So try out an assistant for a few weeks and see if it’s worth it for you.
