Garden of Eternity
A poem about the fragility of eternity, inspired by artwork and music

If I could get lost inside your gaze I would choose to abandon all hope A merciless journey inside a purple daze Leaving me trembling on a tight rope
If I could seek and contain peace I would forget the sound of your breath An eerie noise that made thoughts cease Raising the vortex of this numinous depth
If I could leave behind a faint trace I would reclaim the map of your hidden seas A dive into the void you sought to erase Embarking on a pilgrimage to ancient trees
If I could find a way to be with you tonight I would forsake all glory and precision An opportunity to distort all that’s right Numbing the pain of your saddest decision
This poem was inspired by the artwork above, which was created by Gustave Deresse; Writer & AI Artist.
I was listening to his music track “Raining Hearts and Minds” while writing the poem.
I would highly recommend that you go over to Gustave’s page on NightCafe and his page on SoundCloud to enjoy his art and music!
In case you missed it, I used Gustave’s artwork and music as inspiration for two more poems (“Mirrors and Escape Routes” and “Next Stop: Absolution”).
