Summary

The poem "Next Stop: Absolution" reflects on the emotional journey of moving past unfulfilled promises and reclaiming control over one's destiny, inspired by an artwork titled "Nothing is Real" by Gustave Deresse.

Abstract

The poem "Next Stop: Absolution" is an introspective piece that uses the metaphor of a train platform connecting various aspects of existence, such as eternity and exuberant desires. It depicts the struggle to overcome the weight of broken trust and the scars left by past interactions. The author expresses a turning point, where the antidote to the oppressive influence of others is found in a decisive moment of self-empowerment. This moment is immortalized in the poem, marking the speaker's transformation into a master of their own chaos. The work is directly inspired by the evocative artwork "Nothing is Real" by Gustave Deresse, an AI artist and writer, whose collaboration with the poet has produced additional poems and music, yet to be shared publicly. The poem is a testament to the power of creative inspiration and the courage required to confront and transcend personal trials.

A poem inspired by artwork

“Nothing is Real” — Artwork by Gustave Deresse on NightCafe

I am standing on the platform that connects Eternity and laughter to your exuberant desires Waiting for the train that is part of my calling Hoping that this time it will lead me away From your idealistic and disembodied promises

This piece of paper that fights against my fingers Holds the testament of the tawdry thoughts You tried to erase and throw in my abyss Just like that aberrant writing that you scribbled off So gently and eloquently with your knife on my back

The train won’t pass by me this time In this feeble piece of paper I hold the antidote For the ingrained tyranny of your imposed dominance Looking around the platform one last time I shall henceforth be known as the tamer of chaos
