LIFE LESSONS & HUMOR 100-WORD MICRO-FICTION

She Couldn’t Make It; She Died

A 100-word micro-fiction. It’s game seven and the wife couldn’t make it for the first time since they married.

It’s game seven of the Worlds Series. The man makes his way to an excellent seat behind the dugout.

He sits down and notices the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks if someone will be sitting there.

“No, that was hers. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she died. This is the first final game we haven’t been to together.”

“Oh, my condolences. That’s terrible…. But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend or relative to take her seat?”

The man shakes his head and says, “No, they’re all at the funeral.”
