Future DC Movies, Series & Video Games Will All Be Set in One Huge Universe
James Gunn and Peter Saffran are seriously improving DC Comics media.
If you’re a fan of DC Comics, you’ll be familiar with their vast amount of movies, TV series, and video games. I myself am a huge fan of all of DC’s media, but it can be a little hard to keep track of.
For some reason, DC previously decided to separate the movies, TV series, and video game universes from one another. There is a completely different storyline in each category.
Because of this, it can be kinda confusing trying to keep track of everything while consuming it all at different times.
But thankfully, on Twitter, James Gunn recently confirmed an interconnected universe for all future movies and TV series. Here’s the corresponding tweet.
Not even 30 minutes later, Gunn replied to another tweet asking if the DC video games would also be connected to the same universe, and Gunn replied with a resounding “Yes.”
Ever since Marvel started making TV series set in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), I always hoped that DC would follow in their footsteps. I absolutely love most of DC’s TV series, but the disconnection from the main film universe was a little disappointing.
But now, not only are we going to get a connected universe between movies and TV series, but also between their video games as well. Words cannot describe how excited I am about this project.
This ties into a comment made by discovery head David Zaslav regarding DC’s hiring of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Zaslav stated the following.
Gunn and Safran will help “build a bible for a cohesive DC universe [between] live-action films, TV, animation, gaming, and more.”
Although it’s not clear whether these future titles will tie into previous movies, TV series, and video games, I honestly can’t see them doing that since it would create a bunch of continuity errors.
Nevertheless, I’m very keen to see how this project works out. I have a lot of faith in Gunn and Safran. Let’s hope this project works out for the better.
