Funny, Controversial, Interesting, Eccentric! My Favourite Writer — November Competition

Here’s why I choose Edward John!

This is my entry for the ‘New Writers Welcome’ November competition. It’s about a fellow Medium writer who’s made an impression.

Edward John is a bit of a mystery. He probably isn’t called Edward at all! His account is a pseudonym, with a stock photo, so he feels free to share his thoughts without judgement from people who know him. I can understand that.

I like Edward because I think we click. We’re both British, we share similar interests, we joined Medium within a few months of each other and have similar goals for what want to achieve on the platform.

We’re both finding our way around on Medium, chatting about what we’ve learnt and sharing tips. We also share an interest in natural health, find social situations challenging, comment on each other’s stories, and enjoy a good debate.

We have a similar sense of humour. Edward writes funny anecdotes about some of his experiences and I enjoy his humorous musings. Here’s one example, which I thought was hilarious!

He’s had success on Medium challenging the wisdom of some spiritual gurus. I admire his positive spirit, his frank way of telling it like it is, and his sensible take on radical ideas.

He enjoys a bit of controversy, likes to look at both sides of an argument, and you might think it’s hard to know what he really thinks when he writes this…

When I first saw the November Challenge in New Writers Welcome, asking people to write about their favourite writer, I wasn’t going to participate. I didn’t think I had a favourite. I didn’t want to compare all the wonderful writers on this platform and choose one.

But then I realised I enjoy Edward’s articles and conversations and I lookout for what’s coming next. So I chose Edward.

Keep up the great writing!
