From 52 Books to 5: My Picks for the Best Reads of 2022

A Selection of Must-Reads for Book Lovers of All Genres

As a reader, there’s nothing I enjoy more than discovering a new book that completely captures my attention and stays with me long after I’ve finished reading.

In 2022, I had the pleasure of reading several books that fit this description, and I want to share them with others who love to read.

In this article, I’ll be presenting my list of the best books I read in 2022 and explaining why I think each one is worth checking out.

I hope you’ll find something on this list that piques your interest.

My Selection Criteria

My selection criteria for this list were fairly simple: I wanted to include books that I think could please a wide range of readers, regardless of their individual interests or preferences. That means I excluded books that are highly specialized or geared toward a very specific audience (for example, a book about programming might not be of interest to everyone).

Most of the books I read are non-fiction, so it’s not surprising that the majority of the books on this list are also non-fiction.

My goal was to create a list of books that are engaging, thought-provoking, and enjoyable for a wide range of readers.

The Universe in Your Hand: A Journey Through Space, Time, and Beyond

“The Universe in Your Hand” presents a wide-ranging and accessible overview of some of the most important concepts in modern physics. Galfard is a recognized theoretical physicist and science communicator, and he did an excellent job of vulgarizing the most complex things you can find in the universe.

From the Big Bang to black holes and beyond, this book covers a wide range of topics in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. “The Universe in Your Hand” provides a truly holistic view of the universe, incorporating both the grandest and the smallest scales.

If you’re interested in learning more about the fundamental nature of the universe and the latest developments in modern physics but you’re not a scientist, “The Universe in Your Hand” is definitely one of the best books you can read.

Atomic Habits — James Clear

“Atomic Habits” is a life-changing self-help book. The book focuses on the idea that small, incremental changes to your habits and routines can have a big impact on your life over time. Clear argues that by focusing on “atomic” habits — that is, habits that are small and easy to implement — you can gradually improve your life and achieve your goals more effectively.

Over the course of the year, I implemented many of the strategies and techniques outlined in “Atomic Habits” in my own life. I found that by making small changes to my daily routines and focusing on building good habits, I was able to make progress towards my goals more consistently and effectively.

“Atomic Habits” has had a truly life-changing impact on me, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their habits and make positive changes in their lives.

Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming — Stephen LaBerge

“Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming” is a comprehensive guide to the practice of lucid dreaming, in which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming and can potentially control the content of their dreams. LaBerge is a leading researcher in the field of lucid dreaming, and he draws on his extensive knowledge and experience to provide a thorough overview of the topic.

In the book, LaBerge discusses the science behind lucid dreaming, as well as practical techniques for inducing and enhancing lucid dreams. He also explores the potential benefits of lucid dreaming, including increased creativity, problem-solving abilities, and self-awareness.

I found the book to be highly informative and enjoyable, and I was fascinated by the many insights it provided on this intriguing topic. It helped me to have some amazing lucid dreams throughout the year (I made a total of 40 lucid dreams in 2022).

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion — Robert B. Cialdini

This book is a classic in the field of psychology, and it has been widely acclaimed for its insights on the ways in which people are influenced and persuaded. Cialdini is a leading expert on the psychology of influence, and in the book, he presents a number of principles that can be used to understand and effectively influence the behavior of others.

In “Influence,” Cialdini covers topics such as the power of authority, the role of scarcity in persuasion, and the impact of social proof on decision-making. He also provides practical tips for how to apply these principles in a variety of settings, from business to personal relationships.

I would recommend this book to everyone because I think it’s an important to skill to be able to understand our behaviors and these of others in society.

Brief Answers to the Big Questions — Stephen Hawking

Stephen Hawking is one of the most renowned scientists of our time, but he’s also an excellent writer. In this book, Hawking tackles some of the most fundamental and enduring questions about the nature of the universe, including topics such as the origin of the universe, the nature of black holes, and the search for extraterrestrial life.

Hawking’s writing is characteristically clear and concise, and he does an excellent job of explaining complex concepts in a way that is accessible to readers without a background in science. His insights on the big questions of the universe are thought-provoking, and the book as a whole provides a fascinating overview of some of the most important ideas in modern physics.
