She was a lusty, kind, and welcoming woman, always surrounded by paperbacks in her Lazy Boy.
The three of us settled uneasily in a pew toward the back of the church.
Mike looked smaller and bearded; for a moment, he didn’t recognize him. It had been 50 years. Oh yes, he’d fallen off a ladder at a plumbing job.
Standing to shake his hand, the other Mike, with balding thin hair, smiled shyly and seemed taller.
