Be any business, always start with zero investment. Experiment. And then proceed.

I see many people trying to focus on SEO.

And SEO means you need to buy tools for that. BTW, I use Google Trends and Google Search to find ideas for my articles.

When you start your writing career, you think you don’t need any investment. All you need is to WRITE.

You can do pretty much anything without any help.

Then you come to know that you need SEO tools, grammar tools, and subscriptions to various websites to run your business.

Pretty much all of these things are needed in any business.

But not until you start making consistent money.

Writers, Start with ZERO

You don’t have to buy anything at the start. But only when you NEED them. Until then, use these free tools to run your business. If your goal is to make $1k a month then these tools are ENOUGH:

1. Google Docs — writing
2. Google Sheets — track finances, daily work, etc.
3. Google search, keywords, AnswerthePublic — I don’t do SEO research often. I like to write what’s on my mind or want to share with you guys, irrespective of the traffic I will get later. But pretty much now, these free tools are working for me.
4. Medium — Live portfolio plus multiple income streams
5. Twitter/Pinterest — Traffic for your blog
6. Gumroad — Selling your digital products
7. Grammarly/Quillbot — free version for grammar checking

Conclusion

I always recommend starting with a low budget. Test the tools and the platforms you are using.

What works for others doesn’t mean it will work for you as well.

Try. Experiment. Then proceed.

Don’t throw your hard-earned money on expensive tools that you will rarely use later!
