This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition.” You can check out Chapter 1 of this story: The Burned Village. Find out how to contribute to the ongoing story here, or check the previous chapter: ‘Peril in the Heights’ or ‘Seeing Red in the Mines,’ by JF Danskin.

You struggle against the orc, wriggling and trying to push him off, but he’s too strong. He laughs as he grabs your sword and tosses it aside. “You weak, little human,” he sneers, “not worth living.”

You gasp for air as he tightens his grip on your throat. Desperate, you grab for anything within reach, and your hand closes around a rock. With a burst of adrenaline, you swing it at the orc’s head, hitting him with a sickening thud.

The orc, scared and growling in pain, tosses you over the platform's edge, and in seconds, you find yourself freefalling…

You died.
